Chapter 1 Stolen Letters

In chapter 1, We meet Violet, Mother, father, Chloe, and Stephen. The story takes place in 1920, and woman cannot vote yet. Violet finds letters from Chloe, her older sister,That were hidden from her mother. Chloe sent away by her parents. She now lives in New York City. She is a nurse and drives her own car. And is a"New Woman" which means she wants women to have the right to vote. Violet is upset her mother hid these letters and misses Chloe so much. Her friend Flossie died 2 years ago from Influenza, or the Spanish Flu. Her brother Steven Is about her age, we don't know much more about Steven

Chapter 2 The Dying Mrs Renwick

In chapter 2 Violet gets so mad at her parents that she runs away. She takes a train to New York City to me her sister Chloe. Along the way she meets an anti-suffragist Mrs Renwick. Mrs Renwick asks violet a lot of questions on the train. She asked her how many kids she is going to have. Mrs Renwick is surprised to hear that Violet wanted to have seven kids.

Chapter 3 Meeting Myrtle

The theme of chapter 3 is when you're scared you can find a little hope. Violet felt like she is trapped in New York City. She said she felt like she was trapped in a crowd for what felt like hours. And then she thought that the railroad was collapsing because it was so loud.And then she met a new friend and they tried to find Violet's sister.

Chapter 4 Henry Street

Then Violet and Myrtle went to Henry Street. Then they found the Henry Street settlement house. But Chloe wasn't there and then they met a man named Theo. And then he left because someone called his name.When that happened they left and he told them that Chloe was in Washington DC.

Chapter 5 Hobie and the Break Man

In chapter 5 they met a hobo named Hobie. He helped them sneak onto a train to Washington. They needed to go to Washington because Chloe was in Washington. Then a brakeman threatened to throw Myrtle out of the train.. Violet had to pay $15 so he wouldn't.

Chapter 6 it all Comes Down to Tennessee

In chapter 6 violet and Myrtle arrive in Washington DC. Myrtle takes Violet into an alleyway so they can get cleaned up. Then they go to a suffragists home and they got directions to where Chloe might be.

Chapter 7 Heading to Nashville

In chapter 6 Violet and Myrtle woke up and went downstairs to have breakfast. Mr Dexter kept asking them questions about their parents. Merdle told him that her parents were dead. And when Violet told him that she ran away from her parents but they wouldn't care. And that they only care about her brother Steven. And then Mr Dexter told her to say she was fine.

chapter 8 In the Jim Crown car

In chapter 8 Myrtle Myrtle had to ride in the colored car on a train. She was having a hard time opening the doors to get there. When she finally got there she found that it was made of wood and very old a lot older than the other one's. She set next to an elderly woman who she said was the oldest person she's ever met. Her name was Mrs Merganser They had to talk about suffragettes.

Chapter 9 Mr Martins Escap

In chapter 9 Violet was in the women's suffrage train car. Then she went to the colored car to bring Myrtle dinner. When she came back there were two police looking for Mr Martin. When Violet told Mr Martin he jumped out of the train while it was moving. And then the police came and jumped out too but one of them stayed behind to question violet and the other suffragists

Chapter 10 Red and Yellow Roses

In chapter 10 Violet looked for Myrtle so she got off the train.She helped a lady and realize why she was fighting for woman suffrage. Then when the train started to go to Nashville she thought she saw Mr Martin. And then got separated from her group. And then she went to a hotel for Chloe.

Chapter 11 Finding Chloe

In chapter 11 Violet was looking for Chloe in the hotel. She went up an elevator to her hotel room then she went to an anti suffragist meeting to get sandwiches. When she was up there she saw Chloe off the balcony. She dropped her sandwich and ran down to Chloe and hugged her. Then they went to Chloe's hotel room.

Chapter 12 Violet Spies

in chapter 12 violet wanted to go to the train station to look for Myrtle and Mr Martin. But Mrs Lewis told her to eat before she went. After she ate she saw two Hobos but they were not not actually Hobo's they were actually Myrtl and Mr Martin. And then Mr Martin and Chloe talked about having a picnic

Chapter 13 Dead Horse Alley

In Chapter 13 Mr Martin Violet Myrtle and Chloe tried to find a place to eat they finally found a store that told them they could serve them if they go to into the Alleyway to eat. Then they tried to find a hotel and they found dead horse alley which told them they could stay there. Violet told Chloe she was going to the Hermitage to spy on anties.

In chapter 14 Myrtle wondered what she would do after the vote was done. Myrtle told Mr Martin to Mary Chloe to get married but Mr Martin said no to this idea. Then Violet told Chloe what the anties we're planning. After that Mr Martin came in and made a scene. So violet went out of the drugstore to hang out with Myrtle wile Martin was still making the scene.

In chapter 15 Violet was eating at the dining room at the Hermitage Hotel on Saturday. She was spying on the antes. She was listening to a guy named Mr Garlick. He suggested that they kidnapped someone on the suffragist side so they would have a lower chance of winning the vote. After that Violet went back to the tulane Hotel to tell Chloe what she heard. Wear a dance was going on. Them Myrtle and Mr Martin went back home.

Politics and Gunplay

In chapter 16 Chloe teaches Myrtle and violet how to drive the hope chest. Then Chloe took Violet to the state capitol to see the suffragists and antis. Then Mr Martin got captured by the Palmer agents. Someone got a shot because spoke up they saw his statue on the state capital building.
