I cover the walls with butcher paper, and I assign each group of students a chapter from the book. They are responsible for giving the most important event that occurred in that chapter, choosing an impactful quote from that chapter, and drawing an illustration of a symbol or event from the chapter. This year, I am also having them include a key event in the holocaust that is referenced in that chapter. Not only does it bring in a fun creative way for students to stay focused through these final weeks of school but it can be an incredible reflective tool for teachers. What did students remember, what stood out to them and what are they actually taking away from my class?
