However, that requires courage and belief in yourself, which can be really difficult, but that's what courage is all about. If Zelie didn't have the courage to seek out onto her adventure things would've never change, and her family and her will forever live in abuse and fear. Courage is something we should use to fight for ourselves, and those that we love. Was there a time when you stood up to something you were scared of?

Post 2: The moment in the text that stood out to me the most was the part in the book where King Saran gets killed by Amari. 3 reasons why this stood out to me. 1) King Saran actually dies. From the beginning of the book, I never imagined King Saran to actually die. Throughout the book, it can be seen that he was always behind the scenes (maybe apart from a few specific parts), so I always imagined for him to get overthrown and be forced to escape or exile, never him being killed in battle. This leads into the next point. 2) Amari, Saran's daughter, kills Saran. I would not have predicted that it would be Amari, who many times seemed to be so timid, to actually be the one who kills Saran, who is her father furthermore. If Saran were to be killed, it would have been Zelie, I thought. 3) It's very ironic. King Saran is not killed by the magi or magic, but by a kosidan. He who claims of the danger of magic and aims to eliminate it, also training his kids to fight against magic, died in the hands of someone who can't use it.

post 3:
To be honest, I really like the book "Children of blood and bones," however it was a bit too long (at least for me it is).The book was worth the time however, the plot, values, and everything was splendid. Though it did take me some time and patience, but other than that I don't have anything else to say about the book. Maybe just shortening a few hundred pages would've made reading it easier for me.

Post 3: If I were the editor of this book, I would suggest to add more of King Saran's thoughts. This book has multiple POVs, which makes it possible to write a section in King Saran's POV. King Saran is the big bad enemy that everyone (mainly the diviners) hates, but we do not know what goes through that head of his. This makes him a kinda shallow character. We know he is bad and cold, and did a lot of horrible things, but that's it. We don't really know him.

post 2:
I guess one of the moments that stood out to me was when Tzain became angry at Zelie during the beginning of the book.I just really related to how Zelie felt, it's like I'm the one getting scolded at. I guess it's because often times in life I'm not that bright, but at the same time I really want to prove to my parents that I can do it. I hate getting scold at for not completing something I thought I did right. That feeling is like I'm a loser, and I will never succeed. It hurts even more when nobody understands me. Have you had a time in which you felt them same?

Post 1: The greatest lesson I learned from reading this book is that either way, lives have to be taken in order for one side to win. Even though Zelie was on the "good" side, she still had to kill multiple guards in order to finish her mission, and King Saran killed entire populations of maji in order to remain in control. No matter what, a peaceful solution is almost impossible, all it takes is one person to start using violence, and then the rest will follow.

When King Saran saw Inan using his magic, he immediately stabbed him, without any hesitation or mercy, even though Inan was trying to protect him from an incoming attack. I was extremely shocked to learn that he wouldn't hesitate to attack his own son, who he raised himself.

1st Post.
Adeyemi Had many great lessons in this book, but the lesson that stuck with me the most was that there will always be darkness and negativity in the world (Ex. hate, racial discrimination, poverty, etc.) but she also elaborated on that lesson and taught me that it matters on how you deal with that negativity, what you do in the outcome of that negativity. She does this by showing how when Inan is out to catch Amari and Zelie he can think nothing more of catching them and killing Zelie because she’s different from him. This changes when he finds out why they are different and how his own family has cause negative outcomes for them. The sad part about Inan is that he wanted to do what was right, but ended up not doing it, which can happen in reality too. Sometimes people want to stand up for what’s wrong but they don’t do it.

If Kaea was alive, then it would be a race against time for the both of them, to see who could get to the king the fastest. Leaving Kaea alive would give the readers more suspense for the incoming chapters and leave them wondering if Kaea would rat Inan out or finally be convinced to help them.
