Join Prof. Duane Leonard for an introduction to (bullet) journaling as an analog organizational and emergent task planning system that can support you at work and at home! Duane's workshop is about using a system to protect your time to focus on what is important to you. Please bring your favorite dotted journal, writing instruments, or digital tablet if you happen to use one. We'll have digital templates, dotted cahier journals, and pens available for your use as well.

Give Monthly to Classified Senate to Support Future Activities and Student Scholarships

Classified Senate is an incredibly important representational governance body that exists to be your voice in campus matters. Although we have some supportive funding for professional learning experiences and basic administrative task funds, they are minimal compared to the impact we want to make for all Classified employees all across campus; the kind of impact you deserve! If you are able to support the Senate with a small monthly donation that is handled as a payroll deduction before taxes and counts as a tax-deductible charitable offering, we would be immensely appreciative of your support. Our goals continue to grow for supporting Classified in all roles at SCC and funds would also be powerfully leveraged to offer additional student scholarships as a meaningful action to directly support SCC students.

If you decide to offer a small monthly donation, please identify on the simple form details that you would like your charitable offering to go to Classified Senate or Classified Senate Scholarship funds for clarity for our Foundation friends.

Herbal Tea & Incense Making Workshop with Akela Hudson

Akela will guide you through the basics of herbal teas and incense through the lens of her cultural background. Her roots are in the African-American South, where we were guardians of the land, remembering through the plants and herbs. Her German heritage is also a foundation for these daily rituals and practices she has utilized for many years. Herbal self-care does not need to be complicated or for a select few; access is for all.

She will focus on common herbs, including how to grow and care for them, their uses, and their symbolism. We will make our own tea blends and herbal incense. This is a beginner-friendly class; just bring an open mind. All supplies will be provided.

The Gray Zone: Classified Open Discourse on AI Uncharted Territory

Do you find understanding AI to be murky? Does it tell you something you find brilliant one prompt and completely made up the next? In this workshop I will break down how AI works and we will discuss what it implies for us moving forward.

Led by our SCC Education Media Design Specialist, Michie Burbano, please join in for a open conversation about Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), the impacts AI has in our social, emotional, cognitive and envionmental human needs in the office and outside the workplace, and what the paths may look like for educational spaces. This is a chance to hear perspectives from other Classified and develop a stronger understanding of what we can work on together as this technology becomes more embedded in our day to day world.
