Dictatorship / Totalitarionaism: Ensures safety for those in the inner circle. Does not encourage change or flexibility. Local governments do not have any additional power.

Theocracy: Laws are given by god and applied the religious leaders. Those who follow are secure in the selves but at the whim of religious leaders. Tradition in most important. Laws are usually written down and not subject to change.

Monarchy: Rule is hereditary and maintained by gifts to those who keep the monarch in power. Those in the inner circle prosper so they don't overthrow the crown. Tradition is key. Power can be centralized or spread out. Some monarchs have written constitutions, for others their voice is law.

Anarchy: There is no law. Liberty is granted to everyone. Safety is only secured in numbers, where might is right. Tradition only matters to individuals and is not enforced on others. Every group has their own laws.

Pure Democracy: Liberty is more important than safety but there are limits on liberty as decided by the people. Flexibility is easier as the whims of the people change. No central government can do everything so local governments have more say. The voice of the people matters most.

Republic: A balance between safety and liberty is the goal with tradition being key. There are methods for laws to change and be flexible but not without thought and process. Powers are distributed between a central and federal governments and a written constitution keeps future generations voices in check.

....
