Given the time, we were recommended a restaurant to have lunch called Bayleaf restaurant which is less than an hour from our hotel.  We hurried to book a table and luckily we found availability.  After taking the taxi, we sat down and ordered fish and chips, a Sunday roast and a cinnamon cake for dessert for a total of 130€.]]> 2022-12-01 09:08:27 UTC https://padlet.com/angelicarositano0/kuvlmln8bnkq4dfj/wish/2404846171 https://padlet.com/angelicarositano0/kuvlmln8bnkq4dfj/wish/2408086999 We took a taxi at 7:00 a.m. and headed to London International Airport (for taxis we spent 30 euros); once we arrived, we waited until 10:00 to catch the flight (with the Ryanair Company). Once on the flight, they welcomed us very well and always asked us if we wanted drinks, snacks, etc.. During the flight (which lasted 3 hours), we talked about all the beauties of London, such as the London Eye, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, etc ..We were also impressed by the politeness and kindness of that place, and how people respect the rules. In short, an experience to be redone!. I am so excited about the activities we will be doing today! We all went down to the hotel dining room together and had a few cups of coffee, bowls of cereal, freshly squeezed orange juice and many slices of good toast in addition to the classic bacon and eggs or sausages. I also consumed some delicious porridge made up of rolled oats. We then got ready to go out and arrived at Madame Tussauds where we bought tickets for £127 and where we saw the most improbable statues, starting from the Royal Family up to the singers that I like so much.
After completing the tour and taking countless photos, we left the fantastic museum to move, in about half an hour given the coming and going of people, to Trafalgar Square. We admired the impressive Nelson's Column with its statue guarded by four huge bronze lions. After admiring the other components of the square, we began to feel peckish. So we moved to St James park, a park made up of elegant gardens surrounded by three royal palaces. We sat down to rest and eat near the lake. We had lunch with sandwiches, some with prawns and mayonnaise, some with ham, some with pickles and we all drank bottles of cold water for a total of forty pounds. In all of this it was two in the afternoon and as always London must be recognized! In fact, when they say that it always rains in this city, they are not entirely wrong.
Luckily "The Tube" came to our rescue, the London underground inaugurated in 1863 which, with the Piccadilly line, took us to Knightsbridge in about twenty minutes, an area that houses the largest warehouse in the whole of Great Britain, with about 330 departments. Here we bought some clothing, discounted books and other delicacies by spending about two hundred pounds. Luckily the rain had stopped falling and we decided to have tea in one of the cozy rooms where they serve it. Afternoon tea in England is a real tradition. It depopulated about one hundred and fifty years ago in the living rooms of rich people, who invited friends and relatives to have a cup of this famous tea just imported from the British colonies. But back to us: we entered this beautiful green-painted room where we were served lovely cups of tea together with freshly baked scones filled with cream and jam. All very delicious for around £100. Since it was our penultimate day in this wonderful city we decided to go to the west end area. The latter is an area full of entertainment; it is in fact famous for its theatrical and cinematographic shows but it also welcomes restaurants, hotels and numerous shops for shopping. We chose to buy tickets for the musical "Mamma mia", one of the most popular musicals of all time also adapted to film and full of songs by the magical Abba group.
it was very funny but at the same time very exciting. Leaving the theater where we saw it, there was the opportunity to see a "river" of red coaches, the classic double-decker buses of London which are even nicer in real life.
