THIS IS ME... by Maria Jose Rodriguez Cortez https://padlet.com/mariajoserodriguezcortez/kuqi7fjyxaci725d My name is María José Rodríguez, I am from Colombia and I live in Cartagena, I currently work in an Engineering and Architecture company and I am also studying Technology in Civil Works and Construction Management at UNAD. I am a single mother, I have two children, my eldest son is 13 years old and my youngest daughter is 9 years old. I am 41 years old and with the fact that I want to finish a profession regardless of age, I want to be an example to follow for my children, showing them that it is never too late to fulfill our dreams. I use my free time to share with my children and do activities that all three like, however, sometimes I also enjoy doing things alone like reading, listening to music and watching movies (lately I discovered the world of K-Dramas and I can spend a weekend watching these series, jajaja). As for my place of residence, I can tell you that I live in Cartagena, a beautiful city located in the north of the country considered one of the most important ports in Colombia, the Caribbean and the world, as well as a famous tourist destination. Its historic center, the "Ciudad Amurallada", was declared a National Heritage of Colombia and by Unesco as a World Heritage Site. My house is located in the Los Alpes neighborhood, a central area of the city and where we have easy access to shopping centers, supermarkets, schools and parks. In my house I live with my parents and my children, our neighborhood is very quiet and nearby we have a park where my children usually go to play. The house where we live is on one floor, has 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, its kitchen, a large living room and a dining room, it also has a large terrace where my mom usually has many plants. As for my daily routine, I usually get up between 3:30 and 4:00 a.m., at that time I start preparing my children's breakfast and organizing the snacks they take to school, then I start waking them up one by one to get ready, have breakfast, and get ready for school. Their school route picks them up at 5:15 a.m., so after they leave I go to sleep for a while. Since I work from home, I get up again between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m., at that time I take a shower and then have breakfast, I usually have the same breakfast that I make for my children: sandwiches, cereal, arepas with cheese, simple things. I work from home so I have a space in my house that I organized as a small office, there I have my computer, documents and everything I need to do my work, so my working day starts at 8:00 o'clock. I usually have lunch at 2:00 p.m., since I wait for my children to arrive from school to have lunch together, the lunch menu is varied, my mother is the one who cooks and she always makes different and delicious things like pasta, meat, chicken , salads... Anyway, my mom has very good seasoning. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I work from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the rest of the days (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) I only work half a day since in the afternoons I take my children to their basketball practices, we are going to train from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and we are arriving home almost at 7:00 p.m., because the traffic is complicated, it is “hora pico”, so generally those three days we eat dinner between 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., at that time we also eat simple things, similar to those for breakfast or sometimes "fast food" that we order at home, such as pizzas, hot dogs or hamburgers. After my work, as I already mentioned, what remains of the day I dedicate to my children, the days that there are no practices we take advantage of to advance their homework. At 8:30 p.m. maximum 9:00 p.m. they go to sleep while I start my study hours, I do my UNAD activities every night after my work in the company and my work as a mother. I go to bed more or less between 11:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m., I take this opportunity to tell you that regarding my English study, I do it every day during the day, I usually listen to songs in English, I take time to watch videos or series of chapters in English too, I also use the DUOLINGO app daily... And well, like that again until the next day... Every day... En cuanto a los foros me gusta participar y trato de hacerlo según mi disponibilidad de tiempo, porque es un medio de comunicación directa con nuestro Tutor, donde podemos recibir retroalimentaciones con respecto a nuestros avances en la asignatura, sin embargo, me quedo corta a la hora de participar en las Web conferencias porque mi horario no me lo ha permitido y la única vez que si tenía la disponibilidad la sala se llenó, así que no me quedó opción más que verlo por YouTube.
 
La actividad “This is me” me deja como enseñanza el poder redactar un texto en inglés sobre mi información personal, mi entorno y mi rutina diaria, dando uso a
conectores que unen y dan sentido al texto, sé que puedo mejorar y haré mi mejor esfuerzo para lograr hacerlo con un mejor nivel, seguiré esforzándome no sólo porque es una materia que tengo matriculada sino porque en la actualidad el inglés se ha convertido en una necesidad y considero es de suma importancia aprenderlo ya que nos da la oportunidad de ampliar nuestras visiones de estudio, de conseguir mejores trabajos, consumir contenido diferente y sobre todo, nos da la posibilidad de comunicarnos con muchas más personas.
 
 
Calificación de autoevaluación:   Aún hay cosas por mejorar así que me doy una calificación de 8.0, porque no sólo es esfuerzo y dedicación, sino que también hay que sumar los conocimientos adquiridos y en lo personal aún me faltan cosas por aprender.
