-The International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) eventually found 161 individuals guilty of crimes committed during the conflict in the former Yugoslavia. In 2002, the ICTY charged Milosevic with genocide along with crimes against war and humanity.

After the arrival of the Nemanjić dynasty, the economy, politics and military prosperity increased. In the 17 century Serbia was still under the rule of the ottoman Empire. They were later on liberated by Mihailo Obrenović. In 1878 Serbia became known as an independent and modern country after having undergone slavery and liberation.
