The reasons i believe this would be because it does not give a chance to minor parties so why would they bother to try to run for an office. It costs way to much to even try to run for president so you have to be well known in order to make enough money in the first place to try and run. It gives an unfair advantage to incumbents because people believe that because they have been in office once that they did a good enough job to be chosen again.
