I play softball for the softball team here and that is one reason I chose to go here. I have gotten into the entrepreneurship school here and want to major in business to take over my dads State Farm office and take his agency. My favorite thing I have bought this year is a new pair of Tory earrings, I like to wear both gold and silver and they are both colors so I can wear them with anything. The most surprising scientific discovery would be for anyone to be able to go to space. Going to space is a dream I have wanted since I was a little kid after watching Little Eistiens.          <description><![CDATA[<div>My name is Ruben Leon and I have lived in Georgia in the US for my whole live and I have now moved to Atlanta to attend Georgia State in pursue of a Finance Major.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;In the future the careers I am interested in is budget analyst, investor relations associate and an accountant.&nbsp;<br>The most surprising scientific discovery in my opinion is the discovery of Higgs boson which basically explained why other particles have mass in our universe. The Higgs field gave mass to other particles such as electrons which help its resistance to changing speeds and positions<br>The most important thing I have purchase in the past year would have to be my apple watch. The reason being it helped me in keeping track of my activity and calorie deficit as over the past few months I have lost a-lot of weight and as of now I am just working on building muscle instead of losing weight.&nbsp;<br>Some of my hobbies are playing billiards, going to the gym, playing video games if I have the time and keeping up to date with news about the economy and stock market.&nbsp;<br>I hope you have a great rest of your day and I look forward to working with all of you.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

One of my favorite items I have bought this year has for sure got to be my MacBook I got for school this year. The most surprising scientific discovery imaginable to me would probably be that humans can survive and live on Mars or any other planet. I know they are still trying to figure out how to get humans on Mars but I think it will be super cool when they announce they finally figured it out. Some of my hobbies include crocheting, photography, painting, bracelet making, and playing the piano. I am a business major, but I want to be a criminal justice lawyer after I get my bachelor's degree. My absolute dream job is either to become a criminal justice lawyer, a forensic scientist or someone who gets paid to travel. My favorite thing that I have purchased this year would have to be either my bear onesie because it is warm and cute or my Waterpik flosser because it motivates me to floss more. I think the most surprising scientific discovery would be if someone figured out how to time travel. Although it can be agreed that time travel would be very problematic because it can mess with a lot of things and events, I just think it would be really cool if someone figured out how to do it or how to do it without messing with the space-time continuum. </div>]]></description>

My  old computer had a lot of issues and still could only run windows 7 (I like windows 7 though). yet, I upgraded to a Lenovo laptop purely for school and it has made everything easier. I think the most surprising scientific discovery imaginable would be proof of an afterlife if one existed. It would 100% be something that would shock the world. My absolute dream job used to be to play professional basketball whether that was overseas or in the NBA. I dedicated the majority of my life working toward this goal and even got to play basketball on a full ride, however, I transferred to Georgia State to focus more on my academics after a year of basketball.</div>]]></description>

I am a huge sneaker fan and love that the white oreos will go with almost any outfit.   The most surprising scientific discovery that I can imagine is a fix all cure. A dose of one thing that could solve every problem. I do not have a dream job, because I have no clue what I want to choose as my career.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Hello! My name is Naseefah Chowdhury. I am a 19-year-old female college freshman that goes to Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. I am a Computer Information Systems (CIS) major. I was born and raised in Lilburn, Georgia but I did live in New York for a few years. My favorite item that I bought this year is either my iPhone 12 Pro Max or Don Tolliver concert tickets. I have had an iPhone 7 for 4 years so finally getting an iPhone 12 was great because it was faster and the battery health was better. I also liked the Don Toliver concert because I could experience 2 of my favorite artists, Don Toliver and Travis Scott, in person. The most surprising scientific discovery imaginable is if someone had superpowers like teleportation. I am late to everything so teleportation is my dream. If scientists could discover how to teleport, or someone teleporting, that would be incredible. I currently do not know what I want to do in life, but I know my dream job consists of helping people and traveling the world. </div>]]></description>

Some of my hobbies are Basketball, football, listening to music, and just trying new things, and going on adventures. My favorite thing I have bought this semester would probably be my AirPods Pro. Listening to music while doing my work helps me focus and my old headphones broke. The noise-canceling feature is my favorite because while I am doing my work it helps me cancel all the other noise around me. The most surprising scientific discovery in my opinion would be if there were other universes in space. Part of me believes there is and it would be very interesting to see if there will ever be any discovery. My absolute dream job would be working for an NBA team. Growing up I always wanted to play basketball but whenever I realized that was probably not happening then, I became interested in wanting to work for an NBA team because I would still be involved with basketball and that is just because I love basketball that much. </div>]]></description>

For example, we can use the data to see how effective wearing a mask is in protecting someone from getting CoronaVirus and if it's effective, we can continue to enforce the mask mandate to prevent future pandemics. Another example would be to see how effective the Covid-19 vaccines are in preventing people from getting the virus. If the numbers are good, there should be more vaccine implementation. Data analytics could also be used to find where a potential outbreak of a disease is, allowing people to confine the outbreak. Any suggestion?</li></ul><div>In order to minimize the likelihood of a future pandemic, I suggest the government continues to strongly encourage vaccination. There have been unnecessary outbreaks of viruses and diseases that have been around for a long time and should have been eradicated but because not enough people are vaccinated they continue to reemerge. If the government finds ways to persuade people to get vaccinated, we would be one step closer to preventing future pandemics. Now that we have experienced what it is like to live through a pandemic we should use our experience and learn from our mistakes if we ever experience another pandemic. As soon as there is news of a viral outbreak I suggest we immediately go into quarantine and practice social distancing. Wearing masks should also be made mandatory so everyone can play a part in preventing a pandemic. It is stated:<br>" Humans and their livestock are more likely to contact wildlife when more that 25% of the original forest cover is lost, and such contacts determine the risk of disease transmission".&nbsp;<br>Also the same applies with wildlife markets and trade of wildlife which some countries do for using them as pets, food, and even medicine; however either way these also increase the risk of transmission. A solution to this is to fund or invest to monitor or police these illegal trading which would be a lot cheaper than the 10-20 trillion used in the pandemic.&nbsp;<br><br>* There is no limitations to the use of data in the pandemic unless depending on the laws of the right of privacy in the country. One way that data can be used in the pandemic is the use mobile sim-tracking which the country of Taiwan used to make sure everyone was going to quarantine when they needed to. However the only argument against the use of this is the invasion of privacy. The pros of Taiwan following this procedure is it has one of the best ranks in the world when it came to response as of June 2020 with 443 cases and 7 deaths and in February of 2021 940 cases with 9 deaths.&nbsp;<br><br>* When it comes to data analytics and foreseeing future pandemics the main question is if the past data is reliable to use for future pandemics and the uncertainty of unpredictable pandemics. However in the recent pandemic the use of data analytics has increased and the different uses such as social media data, finance data, locations data and especially health data. Data analytics can help however as of now its the test of how much individuals are willing to sacrifice in their privacy to allow companies and the government to peak into for example bank accounts, health records, and even your locations patterns and routes.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Prevention of a a pandemic takes widespread coordination across the entire world, and we really dropped the ball on this one. When it comes to preventing a pandemic, it is crucial to act early. Doctor Rick Bright of the Rockefeller Institute states that with data collection and sharing, an early warning system, and modern data analytics outbreaks can remain localized and a full blown pandemic can be prevented. Reflecting back on the beginning of the covid-19 outbreak, most decisions made regarding safety were made on the state level which makes sense because every state has a different population and different level of tourism or movement of people in &amp; out, but some states were much more lenient about safety measures and prioritized resuming economic activity as opposed to extending any shelter-in-place mandates past the initial 2-6 week recommendation resulting in wildly inconsistent rates of infection between regions. This seems to be where the biggest mistake was made. States that remained in lockdown longer did see a much lower rate of infection than those who opened up early, there seemed to just be a blatant disregard for all scientific data and lack of understanding of statistics. Many people stated that they were not afraid of getting covid because it has a relatively low death rate, but this attitude is extremely dangerous because immunocompromised individuals have a much greater risk of death or long term health complications and disregarding the needs of those individuals is borderline eugenics, and also despite the relatively low death rate, covid-19 can cause permanent damage to the respiratory system or even permanent nerve damage due to hypoxia (lack of oxygen to the brain) among other severe damage, and even if the percentage of people who die from covid seems to be small, those are still people, and how some can see a human life as expendable is beyond me. Never in my life have I seen such a perfect example of American hubris, and never before has it been so apparent that we as American people have been failed by the systems meant to protect us. I do not believe that things would have gotten nearly as bad as they are if elected officials chose to listen to epidemiologists. If there is another outbreak of a disease with the potential to become a pandemic, one can only hope that scientific data is taken more seriously by those who are in charge because data analytics are absolutely the key to preventing another disaster such as this one.</div>]]></description>

One of them is to use data analytics to look at patterns in history so we can easily detect when the next pandemic may come. For example, in 1918-1920 the world was faced with the Spanish Flu whiles Russia had Typhus. If we look further in 1520, Mexico experienced smallpox but in 2019 until today we are experiencing COVID-19 worldwide. Based on these patterns we can expect the next pandemic to possibly be around 3019-3020. Comparatively, after looking at patterns, we must also be able to detect the disease and come up with solutions and carry them out immediately. The quicker one finds a cure for sickness in its early stage, it has a lower percentage of spreading. This can be done by letting others know. Additionally, to this, we must listen to organizations such as The World Health Organization because it is their goal to assist governments to strengthen their public health services and to attain the highest possible level of health for <strong>all of the people. </strong>Furthermore<strong>, </strong>governments can implement weekly or weekend lockdowns and make it mandatory to wear things such as masks with a few mask breaks where persons can go outside and have their masks off for several minutes. Governments can also encourage citizens to practice better hygiene such as washing hands with soap and warm water frequently, taking baths regularly, properly eating healthy, and taking better care of their bodies to prevent a pandemic from increasing. Governments must help to educate their people on the importance of practicing safety protocols, the importance of being our brothers and sisters keeps and practicing healthy lifestyles. They can do these using social, print, and electronic media outlets. These things can help slow down the spread of any disease.<br><br></div><div>Lastly, Data analytics' helps people to be prepared for what may come and suggests to them what they should do in future pandemics. For example, data analytics helps to share information on the number of areas that need herd immunities, it can determine which gender gaps are being impacted, ethnicity, and communities that are being impacted. Ostensibly, data help make predictions on environments that may need assistance which helps to reduce future pandemics. With data analytics, we can make comparisons on how viruses and diseases affect one’s body and the environment. Personally, I believe the method of using social media platforms and trends to create a "forecast" of potential, future social hazards -- such as pandemics -- is not only innovative but also extremely effective. My only concern would be whether or not political leaders will adhere to the warnings it would produce. Perhaps, another beneficial addition would be to provide predictions on the likely outcome of a potential threat if particular actions are not taken (i.e., wearing masks, distribution plans, providing adequate knowledge to the pubic, etc.). Although, this would still have to gamble whether a political leader addresses the issue adequately, it would still add an additional social pressure of "I told you so".</li><li>What is the role of data analytics in future pandemics? Do you think data analytics can prevent future pandemics? Data analytics (to my knowledge) already plays a huge role in addressing outbreaks and various other public health concerns; however, as we have seen in regard to COVID-19, it does not always produce results at the rate that is necessary to prevent a pandemic involving a virus as infectious as SARS.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Mask mandates and social distancing proved to be effective for the current pandemic but was not enough to eliminate the virus due to the inability to enforce these mandates. In Korea, enforced restrictions for vaccinations as well as a QR code which was required to enter most stores proved its effectiveness in halting the spread of the virus. A mandatory two week stay in a hotel as well as frequent vaccinations were required for visitors outside of Korea. These restrictions and safety policies enforced by the Korean government are great examples on how to handle a pandemic. Data analytics has been proven useful in determining the center points of where a virus spreads. Data can be used to track “traffic” within a population which can allow a state to determine required restrictions and mask mandates in these locations. The role of data analytics is simply information. Focusing on a state/country as a whole is not as effective as eliminating danger spots individually. As shown in the example of South Korea, data analytics has shown to be proven effective in tracking down covid cases.&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>

If you are going out in public I think we all need to be more considerate than how we were used to being. Like if you are going to be going out in a big group in public and you aren't even feeling good in the slightest you should probably revaluate the situation and think is it really worth the chance of getting everyone around you sick. We all should probably just become more observant overall about how are feeling and be more considerate towards others.&nbsp;<br>- Yes I do think data analytics can prevent future pandemics.&nbsp;<br>-I think the role of data analytics is something we can use to learn from our past mistakes. Like we can use all the data we have from covid-19 to prevent future pandemics because we know the signs and the steps we should take in situations like this.&nbsp;<br>- Data can be used like I said earlier to be something we can use to learn from our previous mistakes. This can be done with more international cooperation, but also stronger domestic cooperation.&nbsp;<br>Data and analytics can be used in future pandemics by gathering data in countries and using it to determine which areas need the most resources (cities, hospitals, etc). This can be an issue if countries refuse to publicize their data, or lie about their statistics. Data analytics is likely not going to prevent small outbreaks (unless there is technology/knowledge I do not know about), but it can help prevent large outbreaks since it can help analyze a population infected with a virus, and help us determine the best course of action from there. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There are multiple things we can do to prevent future pandemics. One thing we can do is prevent future pandemics is a longer nationwide shutdown. When the country was shu<strong>t </strong>down, we saw a decrease in numbers. The problem is when we opened back up, we did not have enough restrictions. So, keeping a longer shut down will let the spread decrease even more.&nbsp; Another thing we can do is only allow the mandatory business to open in person.&nbsp; Data and analytics could also be used by using previous pandemic data and use that to create predictions for the current one. The role of data in future pandemics is to give us an example and set a precedent for patterns and help us predict what may or may not happen. Data could be helpful to prevent pandemics in some cases, but the reality is that every sickness is different and spreads in different ways.          <description><![CDATA[<div>In order to prevent future pandemics, we should take advantage of the use of masks and other face coverings at all times. For example, although we have the vaccine and the majority of the population is getting said vaccine, we still advise the population to keep face coverings on, although they may not be required. This would prevent the spread of the delta variant that is now going around. We could require the use of thermometers and masks when checking into hotels or in public housing. This way hotel managers can either allow or reject the housing of the guest. This would also allow the environment to stay cleaner even after the intense cleaning of the rooms and building.&nbsp;<br><br>Data can be used to prevent future pandemics by allowing us to measure the number of patients in hospitals or deaths caused by disease. For example, when we see an increase in the number of cases of the flu that is not during flu season, we researched more into what may be the cause of it. We might do more research based on the data analytics for cases and come up with a better vaccine and find the leading cause to the increase of cases. This way we can better prepare for the worst-case scenario, which would another pandemic. Data from COVID-19 could potentially prevent future pandemics because it has allowed us to be able to quickly adapt to health issues.<br><br>The role of data analytics in future pandemics is to help us read into the future in a sense. We analyze data in order to predict the cycle of pandemics so that we can start to prevent them. Diseases and viruses that become pandemics tend to be those that spread very fast, so the only way to stop them is to spread information faster. The problem with communication in our modern world is trust. There are those who trust no news sources and those who trust everything they hear blindly, and both can cause issues. We, as humans, need to be more human to each other if we want to prevent future pandemics. We have to spread information with credible source material and be willing to listen to those whose opinions vary from our own. I feel that is the only way we can effectively spread accurate and useful information fast enough to stop a pandemic from happening.</div><ul><li>How data or data analytics can be used to prevent future pandemics?</li></ul><div>Data analytics is an incredibly important and powerful tool for tracking and predicting things. For preventing a pandemic, that is exactly what you'd want to be able to do: track the movement of the virus and extrapolate where it may end up. Data from past pandemics is also crucial because, chances are, the progression of a future pandemic will be very similar to a past one, giving us even more of an edge in the fight to stop it.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Living through the Covid-19 pandemic, I believe it is safe to say that nobody would ever want to experience another pandemic. Key ways to prevent another one would be to   consider all the positive and negative responses that the United States had to Covid. It took the US way too long to shut down borders and to take the virus seriously. When the next possible pandemic arrises the world as a whole needs to listen to the data that has been collected in 2020 and 2021. Masks and vaccines do work and if an individual does not feel comfortable getting vaccinated then they should wear a mask. Although I do not think data analytics can solely prevent a future pandemic, they should be heavily considered. As of today lives are still being lost and families are losing loved ones due to the virus. Furthermore, some people who were infected with Covid-19 are still facing side effects like pneumonia and lost of taste and smell. I would not want the next generations to go through a pandemic let alone the year 2020. There is so much information to help prevent the spread of a virus and I would hope the coming generations use it to their advantage. </div>]]></description>

We should promote a more sanitize environment and keep mask as strongly encouraged within compact indoor places. When an illness is first suspect to be extremely contagious, the government should make staying indoor mandatory for everyone and make sure to bring us all enough foods to last us through quarantine. We should have people coming to regularly check on us. I think a big part of why COVID spread so rapidly in the first place is because we refused to take this procedure.&nbsp;<br>Data analytic is another good way to prevent future pandemic. With data analytic, we can track who and where is having this certain illness and we can follow the trend to see how much it is spreading in a short period of time.          <description><![CDATA[<div>To prevent future pandemics I think instead of making people feel like they have to take certain precautions and demanding that they do, it should be more of a strong suggestion. Most people are less inclined to do things if they are told it is mandatory. There will always be a reason to rebel. people should know the dangers of not protecting themselves while strongly suggesting to them the precautions they need to take. Data analytics can be used to track almost anything. In this case, tracking data on the number of people who are taking vaccines or getting tested. The role data analytics play in coming pandemics is vital. They would would help track the spread of a virus to keep people safe. Pandemics are inevitable, but using data that was tracked in past pandemics could be of use to limit spread in future pandemics.</div>]]></description>
