In this work you can see soldiers walking through a battle field carrying a tarp. And it is assumed that in that tarp there is a body of one of their fallen comrades, who died in the fight. And because there seems to be dirt and brown/grey colors I can assume it's because the battle is still going on, or it has just ended. With the artist behind the painting being Burdell Moody in 1967. With the reasoning behind making this painting it was that it was created for the Vietnam Combat Artists Program. and it was a program where artistic soldiers drew art to make records for the war.

In this old eroded painting by Burdell Moody I see five of what seem to be soldiers four of which carrying the body of what looks to be a sixth man possibly dead or wounded on a piece of cloth or tarp in a dirty, smokey war destroyed terrain or landscape. I believe they're on their way back from a battle that they possibly won or lost that is yet to be clear and I think it shows how they lost men along the way and so here I think they're carrying a friend back who like I said could be dead or wounded back to a basecamp but to a betterplace then there at none the less. I think this painting shows how terrible, destructive but still beautiful war can be, because although these men have just been in a battle or battles that they will never forget and seen and lived some of the the worst things possible they are still fought for what they believe in and some were killed in action but not they weren't loss without defending their beliefs and their country. It's a beautiful piece it really is.

This shows that the war was bloody and brutal. I notice that the men behind the first guy and with their eyes wide open and crouching in alert. This shows that the soldiers needed to be wake for any ambushes or attacks that could happenen any second. I also notcie the first guy on the phone. He is probably the commander right there and is calling for back up or for a bombing on the ambush.

This piece of art is called "Attack At Twilight" made by Roger B. Blum created his work Attack at Twilight in 1966 while in Hawaii and was inspired by his first view of a burning hut or “hooch".Around the huts the sky appears to be daylight and baby blue, but as the sky draws away from the hut shades of red are blended into the blues. The use of red can symbolize the violent destruction taking place in the distance. Blum put more detail in the soldier in the foreground than he did with the huts in the background, this creates a positive and negative space that adds depth to the painting. The burning trees and hut look like they’re being swept up into the sky from the brush strokes Blum used which generates the appearance of movement in this painting.
(Luis Martinez)

From the title of this painting by Ronald A. Wilson I think the painting was inspired by having to face the fact they had to kill other people that most likely had families and children at home. In the painting the solider on the left looks distressed or shocked to see the body of the dead child. The painting gives the feeling of grieving or guilt over taking the life of a child that hadn't even experienced the real world yet. anthony ambriz

I think the art represents what the Soldiers had to see on a daily basis during the conditions of Vietnam war as many of them were lucky not to lose their life . i think the artist painted this because he saw many of the wounded soldiers during his time in war and wanted to show the world what they had to go through . This picture was painted by Robert knight c in 1966 who served in the Vietnam war as a pilot . - Jorge Gonzales

This artwork was made by Roger Blum while in Hawaii. In this painting, there are 4 soldiers going thru a waist deep swamp while on guard. The painting seems to have 2 main colors which are blue and green probably used to show the camouflage of the soldiers into the environment. Roger Blum placed the soldiers in the background and having the foliage in the foreground drape around the border of the painting so that the audience could feel as though they are apart of the painting and witnessing what's happening. In another perspective it can be seen as if the soldiers are unaware of their surroundings and not know they're being watched. Blum probably wanted to capture 1 of the many feelings during the war such as feeling of being vulnerable in a way.
-gabriela ruiz

This art was created in 1968 by David Hammons and is called "America the Beautiful". It was made with a lithograph and a body print. What I see is that there is someone or something that is wrapped in the American flag and that the only thing colored is the flag while the other is black and white, I believe this is to make the flag stand out more than the black and white. The flag is colored to show that the attention is supposed to be on the flag rather than the other one. Again I see the colors on the flag to be bold and very flat.

This oil pastel on canvas piece is to represent someone who was injured during the war and was left to suffer because of someone else's actions. The setting of the piece is Vietnam. We can see the damages done to the body such as three limbs not being present and part of the torso. The blues, purples, blacks, reds, small hints of orange and gray can show the viewer emotion and bring a cold feeling to the piece.
