The drum machine for Milo to play against to imitate but create a different feel to the double tracked drums on the original. The Bass also has more effects on now to make it feel more heavy and recreate a synth-like sound which is present in the original. The guitar is sent through a pedalboard on which Nathan B was experimenting with the Reverb, delay and blues driver.

We got feedback in the class in which the response was mostly that people liked the direction we were taking the song in but it was still a bit messy. However, this is to be expected this early on in the workshop. Finn had a nice idea for a polyrhythm for the drums at one point in the song. The song is 6/8 and Finn suggested to do alternating between dotted eighth notes and 16th notes on the high hat.

We tried to tighten up the transition from pre-chorus to chorus by writing a specific drum pattern that leaves space for the vocals to bring in the chorus without too much noise. 5:20 - Passthrough into the moment 'A day in the life' by the Beatles style pass through to the next section. I use all the pedals and scrape the pick up the neck for an ascending feeling to the next bit.
6:49 - Thundercat - Them Changes interpretation. This is a very basic cover played simply, for a simple and calming effect to emphasise being in 'the moment'.
7:37 - Why 'Them Changes'? We got to the decision to use this song because we were finding new sounds and I immediately played this riff. The song is very calming and happy to me so seemed perfect as a happy ending to our cover.

This was done by slowing down the speed of the tape. We used the guitar tuner on logic for this.
0:03 - Milo EQ-ing the sound loop of the tape machine taking out some unwanted bass frequencies. He also had to  remove the pop that kept happening by crossing over the recordings.
0:11 - We ran Nathan B's Squire Strat into Milos pedalboard (zoomed in at 0:24) using a metal zone replica all at 12 o'clock into the Orange OR15 with a little gain on the amp.
0:36 - Recording guitar for ambient middle section using a Meris Enzo, pitch shifting delay into a Boss DM2 secondary delay for more repeats into an Electroharmics Oceans 11 reverb pedal with the mix on full
0:49 - Nathan H using the squire Strat through Milo's Enzo, into a pitch shifter which Milo is triggering to sweep the pitch. I am going up an octave each time to emphasise on the ascending outro.
0:59 - We set the delay pedal repeat to close to its limit to quickly make a sound that felt like a breakthrough moment to transition into the next song.
