"No, she'd never like someone like me," he thought as he stuck his slimy gum under the table. 

After a few moments, he gathered the guts to walk over and at least say hello. As Jackson got up, all of the kids hid behind their books and binders, but they got confused when he walked passed everyone and didn't pick on anyone. No, Jackson had his eyes on the new girl. 

"I.. um.. hi..." Jackson stuttered with his face blazing red. "What's your name?"

"I'm Charlotte. Nice to meet you." She smiled brightly with a hand sticking out.

He kindly shook her hand after wiping his sweat on his shirt, and asked if he could show her around the school.

"No!" One kid screamed out. "Don't talk to him, he's such a bully! Stay away from him!"

All the other kids in the room agreed, and starting saying rude things about him. Jackson felt a mix of anger and embarrassment. Charlotte could see how it affected him. She got up, walked over to the door, and hand gestured Jackson to come over. 

"C'mon, let's walk around the school. I'm excited for you to introduce me."

Jackson's frown reformed to a smile.
