This painting resembles Gustav Klimpt's "Woman in Gold" The separation of the skin to the flat black surroundings with leftover grid marks makes me think this work is about the true face of family. 2. I see a sad or depressed facial expression in the painting so I think the artist is trying to portray that.
2. I am assuming that this is an mother elephant with her baby and it seems like she is taking a protective stance over her baby.
2. The shadows in the drawing give me a reflective feeling which contribute to the feeling of protection as well to me. The shadows are offering protection to the elephants who are protecting one another.
-Sammi Faloon

1. I am not totally sure what the meaning behind the drawing is. It kind of seems like the girl is sad and looking for something. The face on the ground also makes me think that is her previous self and she is becoming someone new because of all of the flowers blooming around her.
2. The lack of color in this drawing makes it seem more serious and contributes to the lack feeling almost. The flowers seem to contradict the scared/sad look on her face as well as the face on the ground which confuses the message that I am getting from this.
-Sammi Faloon

1. I made this drawing with the intent to not only continue developing my unique drawing style, but to also express a dark and sinister tone through a lack of fear in the figure's facial features in response to the noose and open wound in the face. I enjoy contrasting themes in my artwork, especially with the figure's reactions to the usually terrifying things happening around it.
2. Whenever I start a new drawing I don't necessarily have plan as to what will be the end product. My drawings and paintings are the result of my interests and emotional turmoil colliding together and landing on my paper or canvas. In regards to my process, I think it's impossible to not display personal themes in my drawings. The difficulty for me is defining exactly what connects my personal thoughts with my finished (or unfinished piece.)
-Cora Koser

This piece represents the feeling of stress, fatigue, agitation, and possibly the state of giving up.
2. The painting uses dark colors, choosing a black and brown heavy color palette. The brush strokes, most notably on the face, are very rough. It looks like the face was painted with a dry brush. There seems to be no plans to smooth out the paint to create a more airbrushed appearance. The painting's rugged aesthetic compliments the subject's (portrait) imperfect, clouded state of mind.

1. The drawing is representing the feeling of being trapped and overwhelmed in a world that is just to big and presses down on the character.

2. The plants growing from the character's hair shows how they're rooted to this place, unable to escape. The face in the floor also emphasizes this for the same reason. The way that the character is looking up while we look down onto them shows also emphasizes their lack of power and control.
Daniel Kowalski

Lilian Broyles
1. Though I don't know you well enough to understand your inner thought process, I can assume you drew this to illustrate your emotional state (I do not know if these are emotions from the past or the present).
2. The themes seem to revolve around the concept of suicide? The person in the picture has a noose wrapped around her neck that threads through her eye. The themes in this drawing possibly reflect your personal feelings and/or experience with suicide? Maybe you wanted to die in the past and you have seen how these emotions destroy yourself.

1. I don't know how well things sell at the school store in general, but I think that they would sell well because of their reusability and practicality. I also feel like the 3D design on the front would make it appeal more to people.

2. I'm not good with prices, and know that a lot of things in the school store are marked up, but I would guess it could sell for anywhere between $30-65.
Daniel Kowalski
