why do I like "High Waters"?

High Waters threw itself into my playlist and ears with a infinite amount of force. Royal Blood is my favorite band of, well, all time, and High Waters spoke to me in a way. The lyrics of keeping afloat in the time of chaos and heavy guitar riffs appealed to me, especially as I'm constantly uncertain of if I'll survive this year. Another struggle to stay afloat, I suppose.

And what of "It's time?"

This is a song that I've been familiar with for some time now. When 6-year old me heard this song, it was a massive step compared to what most kindergartners are served with their music. I fell hopelessly in love with this song, and even now, 13 years later, I still love this song. This song has aged like a fine bottle of red wine, and it brings back plenty of happy memories.

So what does "Typhoons" have?

Continuing with my Crippling addiction to Royal Blood, Typhoons was the song from them that won me over. The aggressive guitar riffs and drums, combined with some admittedly edgy lyrics, Create a perfectly violent symphony, and I love it. I love it so much. As of writing this, this might just be my favorite song. Ever. I'm sure what else I could say about it.

What about "Everybody Wants to Rule the World"?

"Everybody Wants to Rule the World" helps me view the world through a new lens, especially the rotten world of politics. The lyrics resonate with me, as the desire for freedom and pleasure and how everybody has their own view on how the world should look is something that is quite present in our modern world. Everyone has a vision for the world, but no unity or drive to achieve it.

To round out this assignment, we have the longest song of this list. Whirring can be best described as a 4 minute long instrumental section with some lyrics at the start, and to be honest, I can't help but love the style. Sure, it can drag on for a bit, but I love it too much to care. It's just pure rock energy. No brakes, no time to speak, just hands on the guitar and sticks on the drum. It may not have an emotional reasoning for being here, but I like the song. What more can I say?
