The make-a-wish foundation is a very respectable and generous charity.
It works with ill children who might not make it much longer and makes them meet their hero. What this means is a child contacts the foundation, which then calls the person the child wants to meet (the actor of a superhero, a wrestler...). The person in question then goes to meet the child in person to encourage and make the kid feel better. I personally have a huge respect for this charity organization, because making an ill child meet the personality they love most is a wonderful thing to do for them.
I personally have no experience with charities from a work or volounteering perspective, but I really appreciate what make-a-wish is doing.

Volunteering is an activity helping people with different conditions for free and Washington to help. Normally it is based on a group of people with the motivation to help others without receiving anything in return. There are different types of volunteering for example: volunteering in old people's homes helping the elderly, in churches, in nature helping the environment, helping animals, etc. I have a friend who uses to help in oratories with children and in some old people's homes to help people in need. She is really so nice to useher time in favore of other people. At the moment I have never done any kind of voluntary work, but I would like to try this experience, but now I can't because of the period we are going through, but later I would like to do it. For example, I like to bake cakes, maybe I could make sweets for children in hospital. In my opinion it's a nice action that there are people who give part of their time to these types of causes, doing it spontaneously without being forced by anyone.
One Charity organization than I appreciate a lot is VSO (https://www.vsointernational.org/).

This society is engaged in social work without housing in the United Kingdom. The company was founded in 1958 by Alec and Mora Dickson with the support of Christian Aid and the late Bishop of Portsmouth, who sent a letter to the Sunday Times to support their vision. The company's registered office is in Kingston Upon Thames, UK, and they have health facilities and education systems in several countries for example Bangladesh, India, Thailand, Pakistan, etc.

Its goal is to raise the standard of living in the poorest countries. Volunteers help educate children and adults, help improve local medical care and health systems, and basically do their best to keep people from living below the poverty line. I discovered this organization thanks to a friend from United States, because she also made a research about this subject and she kept very impressed on the actions of this organization. She talked to me about it and I really appreciate because actually VSO make a lot of efforts to turn life better to a lot of unlucky people. In conclusion I really like this organization for all the help it gives to people with the most need.

I’ve never volunteered unfortunately, but I think it would be very grateful!

Charities associations are very popular all over the world. They’re usually no-profit and non-government organisations which try to help the poorest nations in the world. They don’t earn money, and people who work for them are not paid for it, but these societies raise money from private donations.

One of the most known is Amnesty International, founded in 1961 by Peter Benson in the UK, and many years later, in 1977 won the Nobel Prize.

This foundation deals with many campaigns that take care about human rights.

Now, about 12 campaigns are active: climate rights, fundraising for covid-19, against cyberbullying, freedom of opinion, against weapons, death penalty.

Moreover they also ‘fight’ for people who are at risk because of many reasons like their sexuality, skin color, religion, ideas and more.

Since the beginning, Amnesty International did many incredible actions, for instance in 1981 the first worldwide campaign against forced disappearances was launched.

In 1990 many countries like Andorra, Ireland, Mozambique, Nigeria and Hungary abolished death penalty.

In the early 2000s were launched two campaigns against violence of women in Darfur (Africa).

https://www.amnesty.it

A charity is an organisation or a foundation which aims to create advantages for the topic under consideration, therefore benefits.
For example it can be done trough volunteer work, donation of all kinds, fundraising...
An extremely important charity, nowadays in the world is WWF, an acronym which means “World, Wide for Nature. It is the biggest non-governmental organisation, that purpose to protect nature, animals and fix the damage man has created.
This association was founded in 1961, in Switzerland and from the beginning millions of people agreed, making it get bigger and bigger. Now it is working in more than 100 countries in the world and is supporting around 3.000 nature-fix projects.
WWF aims and is trying to persuade people to stop the degradation of the planet’s nature environment and build a future in which human life don’t contrasts animals ones.
An extremely famous logo characterise WWF is the giant Panda, which from the beginning has become the official symbol.
It includes six areas: food, climate, freshwater, wildlife, forests and oceans. Moreover every “topic” have a group of people, like a “team”, who takes care of it.
However not always is appreciated, in fact on the web, especially in WWF site, many are the people who contrasts and diminish the astounding ideas and projects of this association and many are the criticisms.
In my opinion this foundation has done the best for the nature world and I really hope it’ll be able to handle the climatic changes that drastically are changing the world.
Maybe in the future, participating in a project would be the greatest satisfaction for me.

Poverty’s like a bell that we’d never want to hear ringing or go against in our life. Without even realizing it, we could lose everything we have in a few days and find ourselves without a home, a job or in any case an emotional and economic stability. I suppose it’s comforting to know that you have a bed and something to “put between your teeth” while also having the certainty of being able to survive and see again the sunlight after having discovered that you no longer own anything except your life.

Charities were born precisely with the aim of helping as many people as possible, guaranteeing a dignified life to anyone who’s experiencing a hard or stressful time in their life. In fact they provide primary goods such as food, clothes, a place to live and also emotional support. In my opinion charities are real lifesavers or “lifebuoys” for many people who are in difficulty who just need a little push to be able to start their life over and decide their fate.

These associations are partly financed by the state but also by many donations that are made by volunteers and therefore by anyone who wishes; moreover there’s the possibility of donating clothing and food, mainly canned, to many associations such as Caritas and you can also go and help out by doing various jobs such as helping in the canteen.

An agency that I particularly appreciate and admire is The UN Refugee Agency or UNHCR founded in 1950 by the General Assembly. This is the United Nations agency specializing in refugee management, in fact it’s the world's leading organization on the front lines of saving lives and protecting the rights of millions of refugees. It provides these people with international protection, material assistance and pursues lasting solutions to ensure peace and stability.

Through it you can guarantee your support to refugees through a single donation or with the continuous solution of the regular donation, by deciding the amount and timing of the donation yourself.

They currently need help saving the lives of children from polio and other childhood diseases therefore if you have the possibility, visit their site https://dona.unhcr.it/campagna/emergenza-siria/ or https://www.unhcr.org/ . They also offer scholarship opportunities for refugees, the chance to listen to Filippo Grandi, the current UN High Commissioner for refugees, discuss what motivates him in his work, the chance to buy holiday gifts handcrafted by refugees and a time-saving way to stay on top of displacement news.

Moreover on their website you can read about various topics, like their fight against sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment or asylum and education, and check out their new volunteer projects, as well as listening to the touching stories of people who have managed to overcome all the obstacles that life has put in front of them thanks to the support of the agency or the experiences of those who supported and contributed.

I've always wanted to volunteer but unfortunately I never got the chance. I’ve often donated clothes and food even though I’ve always regretted not having helped in person.

In conclusion if you are eager or willing to embark on an unforgettable and sensational experience that will change your life, consult and visit this wonderful site https://www.aynicooperazione.org/ .

Volunteering is a free and spontaneous help activity for people who need assistance.
We may help people on our own, otherwise we can take part to associations for beneficial purposes.
Charities draw economic resources for their operation and for carrying out activities, from members’ contributions, private contributions or from public bodies, who take part in their project.
Italy is a country where a multitude of citizens practice volunteering in various forms.
As for an example that comes to my mind is Telethon.
Telethon is a television marathon founded in 1965 in the United States of America on the initiative of the famous actor Jerry Lewis with the aim of raising funds for research on muscular dystrophy.
Over the years the term Telethon refers to any television broadcast of hours or even days, aimed at collecting donations.
During the show you may see singers, musicians, comedians and other performers.
The Italian edition of Telethon was created in 1990 by Susanna Agnelli in collaboration with the Italian Union against muscular dystrophy, to finance and promote research on genetic and rare diseases, to seek a cure to the illness of her son.
With the funds raised thanks to the television marathon on Rai networks, the Telethon foundation discovered the cure to ADA-SCID, a disease that constrained children who were affected to live in a sterile bubble.
A further example that comes to my mind for raising money, is a sort of race. I’ve never participated to this kind of relay race, but when we finally get out of this strange and peculiar situation, I would love to.
As for me volunteering is so gratifying.
When I was younger with the school, we were used to practice with Christmas carols and thereafter go to a retirement home, and therefore sing for the elderly.
Seeing the smiles on these people, many of whom are lonely, was very rewarding and really heartening.
If you are interested and captured, and you want to know more about Telethon, here’s the link of their website!
https://www.telethon.it/sostienici/dona-ora?utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=search&utm_campaign=&codiceCampagna=2020_04_ZZW_BL_CPC&maratona=false&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIuvSIpOeH7gIVTeh3Ch2ySgE4EAAYASAAEgLUk_D_BwE

https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telethon

Awareness-raising has always been one of the most effective methods of approaching people and educating them with the aim of reducing misinformation and spreading consciousness about a particular issue.

Because of that, a lot of different hardships have been assuaged and even prevented, making us realise how effective and essential our actions can be and how crucial acknowledgement is; moreover, the effectiveness of that contributed to the achievement of multiple scientific insights.

An example that proves the previous statement is the wealth of information that cancer research gave us after decades of studies and the establishment of several charities, non-profit organisations that usually subsist on money contributions, petitions and food, clothing and healthcare supplies donations, depending on the aim.

I have personally never volunteered or properly been a member of a charity, however, my mother has repeatedly donated to different corporations during the past few years.

On the base of the foregoing, I would love to share with you all one of the organisations she appreciates the most: Anvolt Onlus.

Anvolt Onlus ( Associazione Nazionale Volontari Lotta contro i Tumori) was founded in 1984 in Milan, with the purpose of helping cancer patients and their families find relief and alleviate the plight; shortly thereafter, the founders decided to expand the organisation establishing numerous new delegations, campaigns and formation courses for volunteers, becoming a successful organisation that is able to give a financial support to disadvantaged families and study grants to its hardworking members. In addition to these remarkable aims on https://www.anvolt.org you will be able to discover many other purposes of Anvolt Onlus, its locations and the latest news. The website is, as a matter of fact, very well structured, therefore, it perfectly explains the procedure of donating and becoming a member of this brilliant corporation. Moreover their monthly journal is now free and available on their website so I truly recommend you to visit their webpage!

As I previously said, although I try to sign and share as many petitions as possible and donate clothes and toys, I have never been a part of a charity but I genuinely aspire to have an impact on our future and contribute to a more promising society and a flourishing world since each one of us has the power to make the world a better place.

All around the world, everyday thousands of people work as volunteers to help unlucky and needy people. They usually volunteer for a Charity, a non-profit organization that supports broke and sick people with magnanimous gestures: they help them by bringing, even in the poorest and most impossible to reach areas, the essential goods which all human beings have the right.

These Charities work in every part of the world, specially in the underprivileged areas to guarantee the stability they need, they bring happiness giving them food, education and medical supports.

One of the Charities that supports these areas is World Medical Relief.
This multi-founded charitable organization, founded in 1953, has an important mission: to impact the medical impoverished on locals, nationals and international basis. Speaking more simply it takes financial donations like medical, dental and laboratory items and brings them to the poorest hospitals and clinics in the most forgotten areas. For example they donate wheel chairs, equipments and clothes.

The results are massive, almost 100.000 of pounds of medical surplus supplies were raised for the differents communities and there are 2950 volunteers working for WMR.

These goods are distributed following a non-discriminatory manner, they don’t care about race, gender, religion, nationality and political belief, they only want to ensure a better future.

Personally I’ve never worked for a Charity or as a volunteer, but I’ll be very enthusiastic to participate at one of these events.

I think that these volunteers bring smiles and joy to childrens and their families. Small things that we may not care about , can mean the world to the others.

We take too many things for granted, school, education, medical supports, health, safety and sometimes we hate them thinking they are legit. Obviously they are, but not in all areas of the continents. How hurting!

We couldn’t even imagine their incredibles stories, full of sadness but also strength, the happiness in their faces when they see the volunteers with all the items, my heart fills up with charm. I’m very glad and honored to see these scenes.

Font: https://www.worldmedicalrelief.org/

Poverty is a situation that people want to escape from.

It requires changing the world so that many more people can have good nutrition, adequate housing, access to education and health.

Poverty is not only a lack of material well-being, but also a denial of the opportunity to live a tolerable life.

Life can be shortened. It can be made difficult, deprived of dignity, trust.

For this there are voluntary associations.

Volunteering is a help and support activity implemented by private individuals, generally free of charge, for various reasons that may be of solidarity, social justice, altruism, philanthropy or any other nature.

Recipients of the activity are different sectors: from assistance to people in difficulty or with various problems, to the protection of nature and animals. It arises from the spontaneous will of citizens in the face of unresolved or unaddressed problems or poorly managed by the state and the market. For this reason, volunteering is part of the "third sector" together with other organizations that do not respond to the logic of profit or public law.

One of these associations is CINI.

The Child In Need Institute is a non-governmental organization founded in Calcutta in 1974 by the pediatrician Samir Chaudhuri to intervene on the serious health and nutritional situation of poor women and children living in the slums and villages around Calcutta and other parts of 'India.

Source: https://ciniitalia.org/

Personally, I have never participated in voluntary associations even though I would have liked it.

Among the many reasons why volunteering I think the most important is that it makes us realize how lucky we are compared to other people. And for this he teaches us to say thank you and to stop wanting more and more. It changes our perspective: we will understand what really matters in life and we will live in a simpler and more relaxed way

All over the world exist many different charities. A charity is an organization that is set up to provide help and raise money for those in need. Charities help in lots of different ways, but the main ways are by providing direct help, giving information, or raising awareness of an issue. Lots of charities do a mix of these things. Personally I really appreciate those activities but I’ve never volunteered, maybe one day I would help needy people. Anyway, when I was a child my mother used to donate my clothes (obviously in good condition) that no longer fit me. Now me and my family don’t use to volunteer but we support those activities.

Nowadays ,one extremely important charity, for our pandemic situation, is Médecins Sans Frontières translated into english as Doctors Without Borders.

Doctors Without Borders is an international humanitarian medical non-government organization which organizes a system of volunteers to provide medical assistance and help the poorest populations in the world in emergency situations, helping anyone, anywhere in the world, who needs medical help. For its humanitarian work, the organization won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999

It was founded in 1971 in Paris, French , called “Médecins sans frontières” by the will of some doctors who helped the populations of BanglaDesh hit by a tsunami and those of Biafra in Africa where there was a civil war causing about a million victims.

The association is made up of many volunteer doctors who intervene daily in areas hit by epidemics, humanitarian crises, wars, poverty, natural disasters and emigration. Treatment from MSF volunteer doctors is free and helps millions of people. Those treatments can be material treatments like vaccines, medication or psychological help for those who have been harassed or raped.

Since its foundation, Doctors Without Borders has set itself two objectives: to intervene in crisis situations, helping everyone, without distinction of nationality , race or religious belief, and to prevent wars and the consequences of disasters, also acting on the political level in richer and more influential countries. Even today, the action of Doctors Without Borders revolves around these two goals and includes direct interventions in areas that are in a state of emergency, information and awareness campaigns. The association's volunteers go to help the world's poor, in regions hit by natural disasters, wars, famines or epidemics. They fight so that everyone can have medicine to cure themselves.

However it is not only poor countries that need the help of this association. In Italy, for example, the organization needs help to irregular immigrants, who would otherwise not be able to receive medical assistance.

Doctors Without Borders is financed with voluntary donations, which are continuously solicited with manifestation, information campaigns, letters sent to millions of addresses.Every year the missions involve more than three thousand people including doctors, nurses and logistics staff, who temporarily move in areas in need.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Médecins_Sans_Frontières

https://www.treccani.it/enciclopedia/medici-senza-frontiere_%28Enciclopedia-dei-ragazzi%29/

An example of the previous statement is the wealth of information that cancer research gave us after decades of studies and the establishment of several charities, non-profit organisations that usually subsist on money contributions, petitions and food, clothing and healthcare supplies donations, depending on the aim.

The welfare activities consist of the provision of multiple services available at the patient’s dwelling and at the hospital resulting, therefore, in a strong and efficient collaboration with the local structures and the National Health Service, that provides free treatments for the patients, according to their specific needs.

In addition to that, Anvolt Onlus offers a psychological support to its clients and their families, endeavouring to lighten the consequences that cancer has on mental health; because of that, there are numerous cultural and entertaining activities, that are often performed by volunteers.

Furthermore, since reaching the clinics is an issue for a lot of patients, transport services are provided by the organisation, that also propose facilities aimed at expediting the access to medical structures of all kinds.
Their website is, as a matter of fact, very well structured, therefore, it perfectly explains the procedure of donating and becoming a member of this brilliant corporation. Moreover their monthly journal is now free and available on their webpage so I truly recommend you to visit their webpage!

As I previously said, although I try to sign and share as many petitions as possible and donate clothes and toys,I have never been a part of a charity but I genuinely aspire to have an impact on our future and contribute to a more promising society and a flourishing world because each one of us has the power to make the world a better place.

Source: https://www.anvolt.org

A charity is a non-profit organization, set up to provide help and also raise funds for those in need, the people who work in these organizations are all volunteers.

Volunteering is the contribution made in a personal, spontaneous and free way by the volunteer, through the organization to which he belongs, carrying out his action without any purpose of gain, but driven by a desire for solidarity.

As for me, for example when I was a child , I organized charity markets with the school and I was able to raise and donate quite high sums to these events, many times I also give a hand to my mother who is a volunteer of an association that helps abandoned animals.

One of these organizations is The Animal Welfare Institute (AWI): Institute for animal welfare is a non-profit organization founded in 1951 with the aim of reducing the pain and suffering inflicted on animals by humans.

One of the main problems is intensive farming. AWI is against this and promotes small independent family farms that follow the organization's animal welfare and husbandry standards. strive to ban the use of traps for trapping fur animals, improving the life of animals in laboratories and promoting the development of non-animal testing methods.

AWI representatives regularly attend meetings of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) to fight for the protection of threatened and endangered species. They also attend meetings of the International Whaling Commission to fight to preserve the ban on commercial whaling and work to protect all marine life.

Another program is that of farm animals, and their industrialized breeding that maximizes profits by mistreating animals in a very small space. The life of a farm animal includes breeding and transport and slaughter and each phase of these offers cruelty, but as an alternative for industrial production, more humane and even economic methods are possible and this the association is trying to understand.

Today many international figures help this society in favor of animals, which is one of the most positively valued.

Fonts: Animal Welfare Instituteawionline.org

Animal Welfare Institute - Wikipediaen.wikipedia.org › wiki › Animal...

Charities are organisations that serve the public. Their goals are providing help for the people in need and focusing on improving people’s well-being.

Some people contribute to charities by helping raise funds and donating money, or by volunteering.

Volunteers give up their time to better the community without being paid or compensated.

When I was in middle school, my school would frequently organise “Bake Sales”. The students would bake cakes or make pancakes and other sweets with their parents, buy food from the store, or cook salty snacks and bring them to school. When it was recess time, all the grades would bring money form home and buy anything they wanted. The older kids from Grade 8 or 7 would usually volunteer to help out the teachers and school janitors selling the goods.

At the end of the day, the secretaries would count the money and the amount that was raised, would go to a charity the school supported.

I really enjoyed participating because it was really fun, it was an opportunity to eat something different for a snack and an opportunity to raise money for people who really need it.

Nowadays people are taking advantage of social media and raising awareness about the problems going around in the world.

Scrolling through social I saw a lot of charities dedicated to help garment workers in the fast fashion world. I found one called “labourbehindthelabel”.

The garment industry turns over almost $3 Trillion a year. Yet garment workers, 80% of them women, earn as little as $21 a month. Poverty wages, long hours, forced overtime, unsafe working conditions, sexual, physical and verbal abuse, repression of trade union rights and short term contracts are all commonplace in the clothing industry.

This organisation raises public awareness and promotes collective action from consumers to push for change in the industry. They pressure companies to take responsibility for worker’s rights and work with trade unions worldwide to amplify garment worker’s demands. They provide a platform to amplify underpaid worker’s voices and demands and to promote international solidarity.

During the COVID-19 crisis, brands cancelled over £12 billion worth of orders, leaving workers unpaid. During the pandemic, people had to cancel orders and delay payments, which have disrupted the flow of cash.

Lockdowns and temporary factory closures resulted in many workers losing their salary, or even worse, losing their jobs.

Source: https://labourbehindthelabel.org/
(https://labourbehindthelabel.org/who-we-are/)

source:https://www.cancerresearch.org/

First of all I’d like to say that I chose this charity for a personal reason;both of my grandmothers had cancer, and one of them also died because of it.However, let’s take a step back. What’s a Charity? A charity is an organisation that is set up to help people in need or sometimes that is create for specific causes like the environment, the diseases...The essential trait of charities is that people who work for these companies are volunteers. That means that they are really interested in doing it; because they really want it and not because they have been forced by someone else.

The most important cancer charity,I’m about to describe,is called the Cancer Research Institute.

Since 1953 they have led the field with support for immunotherapy research and clinical trials.Together with their donor, patient, and scientist communities, they continue to fund revolutionary breakthroughs to cure all types of cancer.

What is immunotherapy?immunotherapy is a form of cancer treatment that uses the power of the body’s own immune systems to prevent, control and eliminate it.In the last few decades, immunotherapy has become an important part of treating some types of cancer.New immunotherapy treatments are being tested and approved and new ways of working with the immune system are being discovered at a very fast pace. Immunotherapy works better for some types of cancer than for others. It’s used by itself for some of these cancers, instead for others it seems to work better when used with other types of treatment such as chemotherapy,radiotherapy....
Although scientists haven’t mastered all the immune system’s cancer fighting capabilities yet, immunotherapy is already helping to extend and save the lives of many patients.Exactly for this reason,in my opinion,it hold the potential to become more precise , personalised and more effective than current cancer treatments and potentially with fewer side effects.CRI provides financial support to scientists at all stages of their careers along the entire spectrum of immunotherapy research and development. To conclude no unfortunately I've never volunteered for a charity, but my family and I are supporters of many local and international volunteering organizations.
