What it is and how to make it:

One of the most popular Japanese desserts, mochi is made of short-grain japonica glutinous rice, also called mochigome, to make a rice cake that is both sweet and chewy. Other ingredients such as water, or cornstarch. After the mochigome is steamed, it has to be pounded until smooth, traditionally with a heavy wooden pestle called kine, but there are many modern methods, like a mochi maker machine.
Serving:

Daifuku: Mochi filled with a red bean (or sometimes white bean) paste. Ichigo daifuku is a strawberry variation where people add a fresh strawberry inside along with the red bean paste.
Chimaki: Mochi wrapped in bamboo leaves, eaten boiled or steamed.
Mochi Ice Cream: A more modern form of mochi, with ice cream stuffed inside of the rice cake

History:
The idea of steaming glutinous rice and turning it into a paste originally came from China, and eventually found it's way into the Japanese culture near the end of the Jōmon period ( c. 14,000–300 BC).

What it is:

Japanese cheesecakes can actually be very different from traditional American or European cheesecakes. The Japanese version is a lot more light, fluffy, airy, and not as sweet. There are many flavours of this cheesecake, including chocolate, matcha, but it is mostly flavoured with lemon or yuzu, which gives it a refreshing taste.
How to make it:
A normal cheesecake is made with mainly cream cheese, sugar, eggs and butter, and also a crust made of crackers. Japanese cheesecakes actually use only cream cheese, milk and cornstarch as it's main ingredients, which makes it lighter and fluffier.
Serving:
Japanese cheesecake is usually served alone, without any toppings, so people can enjoy the delicate flavours of the cake. It is mainly eaten cold, to keep it from falling apart.

History:
The recipe of the Japanese cheesecake was created by a Japanese chef, Tomotaro Kuzuno when he was inspired by a käsekuchen/german type of cheesecake during the 1960s.

What it is:

Tiramisu is a delicious Italian dessert that is loved by many people around the world. The word "Tiramisu" in Italian literally means “pick me up” or “cheer me up” which is why this dessert is served at the end of a meal to cheer you up.
How to make it:
Traditionally, tiramisu is made from finger biscuits, egg yolks, sugar, coffee, mascarpone cheese, and a little bit of cocoa powder to top it off. Sometimes, a little bit of wine is added. To start, you have to dip the ladyfinger biscuits into the coffee, which is usually really strong to add more taste. You then have to get a container, and assemble the tiramisu with the coffee-soaked biscuits and then a layer of custard cream, and the layers keep going until the top of the container. To finish, a sprinkle of cocoa powder is added on top.
Serving:
Tiramisa is served best when cold, and at the end of a meal. What makes this dessert even better is when it is paired with a cup of coffee, which will definitely cheer you up.

History:
According to the BBC, tiramisu was made when chef Roberto Linguanotto unintentionally dropped some mascarpone into a bowl of eggs and sugar. He thought it tasted good, so he told another chef, Alba Campeol and together, they added coffee soaked ladyfingers to create the first tiramisu, which was first offered on the menu of the restaurant in 1972.

Both of these traditional desserts are cakes, but they have many differences. Japanese cheesecake is softer and isn't as rich and tasty as tiramisu. Tiramisu also is better served with a cup of coffee at the end of a meal, while Japanese cheesecake is better alone without toppings. However, they both are best served cold, and are both usually are eaten as dessert at the end of a meal.

Italy actually has it's own version of cheesecake, which is made with ricotta, instead of cream cheese. Italian cheesecake is actually more similar to regular cheesecake than Japanese cheesecake, because it has a more firm texture than a soft and airy one.

Japan also loves tiramisu, but their's is usually made with matcha, because that is one of Japan's most famous flavours. It is very similar to the traditional tiramisu, and can be served in both a container and a cup, like normal.

Dorayaki is a honey pancake, stuffed with red bean paste, so it is obviously more heavy and filling than the thin light and crispy pizzelle. They both have quite distinct tastes, for dorayaki is the sweet red bean filling, while the pizzelle has a subtle vanilla flavour. The way to prepare these treats are a similar, because for the Japanese pancake is (COME BACK LATER grilled?), the Italian waffle cookie is made with a waffle maker type machine. Pizzelle most typically has beautiful floral patterns on it, dorayaki can also has engravings on it too, although it isn't very common.

In Italy, they didn't have much access to sugar in the early times, so they only had desserts on special occasions. The oldest desserts were from bread recipes, and they used honey or fruit to sweeten the bread. After a while, sugar became more common and Italy started preparing milk, honey, eggs, almonds, and more modern recipes. These ingredients soon became the Italian desserts we know today, Italian cheesecake, Panna Cotta, Cannoli and lots more. When sugar became increasingly affordable, even more desserts were invented, like the tiramisu and cassata cream cake.

The first of Japan's dessert is the sticky and sweet rice cake, mochi, which is one of the oldest processed food from Japan. Around the time after the year 630, most of the sweets in Japan were inspired by Chinese pastries. Many different Portuguese treats including sponge cake and sugar candy had a significant impact on the process of inventing new Japanese candy. During the time of the Edo period, which was a time without any wars, lots of the Japanese sweets began to develop, and many of the desserts we know were invented during that time. Additionally, the arrival of modern baking tools like ovens for example, were introduced, which contributed heavily to the population of baked goods.

Most Japanese desserts are very soft, and mostly served cold, like mochi, Japanese cheesecake, coffee jelly and dorayaki are all good examples. Italy's desserts, however, are a lot more flavourful. The textures in Italian desserts are also a lot more varied than the Japanese sweets, and they can be anything from crispy to soft. There are also a lot of similar desserts between the two countries. Japan's mochi and Italy's cannoli are both desserts which have an outer shell and a soft creamy filling.

It's meaning in Italian is "cheer me up" or "pick me up" which goes to show that they love their tiramisu, just as much as they love their pizza or pasta.

According to beliefs, the filling in cannoli was from the Saracens, when they introduced sugar cane to Italy. They used to be referred to as Cappeli de Turchi, which means Turkish hats. This dessert was actually made for the Carnival which was kind of like a parade. To people to celebrate this festival, cannoli is a symbol of fertility.
