One of kids struggles with emotional issues, especially while doing assignments in class. He would spend hours crying because he panicked about the tasks. We talked about option has instead of panicking. I attached this pop-it to his desk with the options ASK, for ask the teacher for help, and TRY, try his best even if he gets it wrong. As soon as I see him get nervous about his work, I point to the pop-it and praise his choice. I've used a token system as a classroom behaviour system or just as a part of a math money unit. The kids learn the value of money, they learn to save towards buying something they like, keep their money safe. Some of my second graders have started to keep ledgers so that they can track their finances. 
One of my favourite market days was when I had a lunch market. I set different prices for everything. It's great way to reinforce expected behaviour. It also helps kids to listen and follow directions. Depending on the group I'm working with, I connect cooking/baking to my reading or writing lessons. They usually have a reading task to do before connected to what we are making and then have to write about the process after or during the wait.
