I think when the unit began, they felt like it was just "drawing." Now they understand that there's emotion tied to the artwork, and that they have the power to influence the emotion. They especially feel empowered knowing the art elements.  :-)

The kids were really engaged and found examples of the art elements in things that were finding on their own. They'd share their ideas/noticings with others.

I have students feeling more positively about Art work that didn't have a connection to art before.
