If not doing online shopping safely and correctly you may face stolen identity and someone can get ahold of your information. Some things to help avoid your identity from getting stolen with online shopping are these things:
  • Pay by credit card
  • Keep records
  • Protect your information
  • Check the privacy policy
  • Keep your Social Security number private
By paying with card you are protected. According to the finance book it states “your transaction will  be protected by the Fair Billing Act” (Safeguarding Your Identity pg8.) This helps make sure that the way your payment went in was correct and the website was not a fraud.

Avoid making all your passwords the same and putting them out.

Steps to take to avoid personal information getting out are these:
  • Be alert to impersonators
  • Safely Dispose of Personal Information
  • Encrypt your Data
  • Keep passwords Private 
  • Don’t overshare on Social Networking Sites
An important step in here is Keeping passwords Private. The book states “Use strong passwords with your laptop, credit, bank, and other accounts. Be creative think of a special phrase and use the first letter of each word as your password” (Safeguarding Your Identity pg 10.)
