         <title>3 Major Causes</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. The British had a policy of Impressment on the seas.  This meant that they could board US ships and make those who they thought were British Deserters, serve in the Royal Navy.<br>2. Native American disputes in the west stemmed from the US capture and control of the Ohio River Valley.<br>3. Nationalism was a huge contributor to the start of the War of 1812.  Reason being, the US population thought they were being controlled, and were tired of being "controlled" by Britain.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Native Americans during this time helped a lot with the starting of the war of 1812.  The leader of the Shawnee Tribe, Tecumseh, attacked US settlers anytime they crossed paths.  This led to the Battle of Tippecanoe.  The Native American tribes were being armed by the British Government.  The US decided it was time for that to end, which is another reason for the start of the War of 1812.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Battle of Baltimore and Francis Scott Key</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Citizens of Baltimore worked tirelessly to put up defenses at Fort McHenry and to protect an approach from the bay.  Francis Scott Key was on a British ship in the middle of the bay, and is said that he say the US flag flying above Fort McHenry.  This event inspired him to write what would later become the US National Anthem.  He wrote the "Star-Spangled Banner."</div>]]></description>

Once they reached the capitol building, they burned the White House to the ground.  While inside the first lady at the time Dolly Madison, stayed and took vital documents, and works.  Also it is said that a slave who stayed with Dolly saved a picture of George Washington from burning.</div>]]></description>
