Common name: Longfin Tetra

Scientific Name: Gymnocorymbus sp.

Description: Longfin Tetras are freshwater fishes that travels in schools and come in a variety of colors. They are native to the Amazon River drainage basin in South America, primarily in Brazil, Peru, Paraguay, Boliva, and northern Argentina. They eat a variety of foods that include flakes, pellets, frozen or live food.

They live for 3-5 years, males have longer, more flowing fins and a slimmer body, females have shorter, more rounded fins and a fuller body. They are egg laying fish and do not breed with other fishes.

Longfin Tetras are freshwater fish, for their environment they should have a lot of plants, hiding spots and open swimming areas since their habitat is rivers, streams and lakes.

A Longfin Tetras ideal water temperature is between 72-80°F, I don't think a water heater is needed

For my fish Long Fin Tetra, I chose to get river rock gravel since their natural habitat is rivers, lakes and streams. I got plants because of the type of environment since rivers, lakes, streams have plants all around and the fish are probably used to that. I also got logs because they make for good hiding spaces which can reduce a fishes stress level
