Research aim: Understand the culture of injecting drug use among the prison population in NSW. 

Research questions:

1.       What are the injecting behaviours practiced by inmates in NSW prisons?

2.       What is the culture of injecting among different groups within the NSW prisons?

Research aim: Explore the lived experiences of people who have been infected with HIV through injecting drug use while incarcerated in a NSW prison and what living with HIV means to them. 

Research questions:

1.       What are the experiences of people in contracting an HIV infection during their incarceration?

2.       What are the experiences of HIV infected people who are serving their sentence in NSW prisons?

Research aim: Understand what contributes to HIV transmission among the prison population of NSW.

Research questions:

1.       What is the knowledge, attitudes and perceptions about HIV among prisoners in NSW?

2.       What are the common practices among NSW prisoners that put the prison population at risk of  HIV infection?

3.       What are the existing measures in place to prevent transmission of HIV among the prison population of NSW?
