Alcohol can have adverse affects on the body. Alcohol "is classified as a depressant, meaning it slows down vital functions"(Personal pg.5).
Tobacco comes in different forms such as cigars, cigarettes, and chewing tobacco. "Tobacco is a nervous system stimulant that triggers complex biochemical and neurotransmitter disruptions"(Personal pg.6). This kind of stimulant can be severely addictive.
Another substance that can cause issues are opioids. Opioids are medications that relieve pain. Then you go into treatment where "medications can be used to help reestablish normal brain function and to prevent relapse and diminish cravings"(Personal pg.8).
There is also a treatment called behavioral treatments.
