“I was assigned to a specific nurse to follow around the unit throughout the day. She was constantly trying to pretend that she is busy to answer my questions, or even looking at me, I felt like she was purposely ignoring me. I was very disappointed about the nurse I had been assigned to”.

1. What type of violence is this?

This is Lateral Violence, in a form of bullying, feeling of being ignored or excluded.

2. If you were in her/his position, how would you feel?

Ans: I would be disappointed but I would also try to work around the problem and try to build a positive relation with my nurse if possible.

3. How would this incident impact her/ him?

Ans: The student nurse will feel neglected and awful. It will affect her emotionally and lower her confidence level. Feeling of an unsupportive environment.

4. What action she/ he would take at that time?
Ans: I will talk to her first, if it didn't work, I will inform my instructor to assign me with other nurse to work with.
I think the student should share with the nurse about how she feels first bc maybe the nurse is just too busy with her work and is not intentionally acting that way.
