Website #1 Pros and Cons of Joint Credit Cards

https://www.thebalance.com/pros-and-cons-of-joint-credit-cards-960972

On this website it compares the pros and cons of joint credit cards for example with a spouse. Starting with the advantages this is beneficial when it comes to sharing the bill. One bill makes it easier knowing which to pay back first and making and less bills to worry about. Also, helping your spouse or family member that has bad credit, a joint credit card can help them to improve their credit. This will only work as we all should know is if the bill is paid on time. A couple disadvantages would be that both parties are responsible for payments not doing so could lead to legal actions. As well as disagreements, break ups this usually causes a majority of the problems.

What I found useful on this website was that having joint credit cards can be a very scary thing not knowing what the future holds between spouses or family members, and as much as you are a family it is probably wiser to keep separate credit cards. However, reasons for sharing a credit card can be useful in saving money, less bills and couples do feel closer to each other.

These credit cards such as the RBC WestJet World Elite Mastercard, Aeroplan Credit Cards, and Marriott Rewards Premier Visa Card helped reduce the cost for flights or hotels, protected them with the proper insurance coverage and other benefits that made their trips more fun.

Considering a valuable travel credit card for the family and not just focusing on how many points you need for a free flight I found useful because there are many things that can add up that we don’t even think about such as vouchers, free checked bags, insurance discounts, etc. These can be discounted or even free! Also, being married there are some advantages by signing up for a new credit card which creates rewards twice as fast!

Website #3 Choosing the Right Credit Card as your Family Grows

She mentions the different stages of your kids lives and what type of credit card would benefit them best. She goes on to say how with a new baby we would be spending money on baby gear, diapers, childcare, etc., so we should look into Amazon or places like Target for example Walmart to collect rewards on money that would be spent anyway. For school age kids she talks about using more gas and groceries and how supermarket credit cards would benefit. For teenagers she says perhaps making your teen an authorized user to build their credit and for kids off to college she suggests a travel credit cards, since there is less grocery bills it might be a good idea for parents to get away now!

I love the way she laid out this article showing which types of credit cards are most useful in certain stages of your kids life. It makes a lot of sense and it’s definitely something to consider to not only to save money but help build your kids and you own future with extra cash flow!

Video #3 What's wrong with using credit cards if we pay them off?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2jHCvLQ078

In this video he talks about how credit cards are not necessarily worth having even with your family, spouse or kids. Spending all this money in the example of the video and only getting $400 back in one year is it worth it? People are always tempted to spend more when they are using credit cards, so that $400 would probably end up being all those extra costs that you spent anyway.

I found this video quite enlightening simply because of the example that was used. It really get you thinking if it’s really worth it? What made this useful is him mentioning spending habits. So, if you have those bad habits, then getting a credit card would not be a good idea. However, if spending habits are not bad then why not have extra money at the end of the year!

What I learnt about this topic that most surprised me was the fact that credit cards are not as scary as I thought owning them. Also, that the rewards come in many different ways that we don't even think about. I think if you're spending the money anyway why not receive rewards and benefits.

A real-life example of why this topic is interesting for me is because I really do like travelling and would like to do it more often and to have it paid for or huge discounts would be amazing! This would have really helped me in the past, although I may not have been ready given my spending habits! Grocery discounts would have really been beneficial. Also, one day when I have a family we can all benefit the rewards.

The most interesting piece that I found throughout my research was the travel rewards I never knew just how much you really get or how much extra benefits like hotels, vouchers, car rentals, airline lounges, insurance coverage, checked bags and other discounts. These really add up so I think it would be quite beneficial especially to families or couples!
