I am from Kazakhstan and in my country people normally start working at the age of 18. But I started at 15, I washed cars at night because I wanted to buy clothes for college. Then I worked in London as a salewoman. I loved my first experience because it made me stronger. When I was 18 I moved to Russia and I was offered a job as a manager/ teacher/ interpreter. I had a lot of duties and I quitted. I believe that everybody has to work hard and get first practice before they are offered a permanent job.

I have no idea if we can talk about "normal" age. Much depends on where people live, e.g. people in the country can start working in their early teens. In town - later. From 16 to 22, the age depends on job.

It is believed that the earlier you start working, the sooner you are offered a permanent job with high salary. That is why adolescents tend to be hired being university students. Having a work placement to get experience is of high importance as it gives a clear idea of what the job requires and whether it is what you would like to do for a living. As for me, I tried my hand at tutoring English being a school leaver.

In Russia people usually start their working career at the age of 16-18. Normally it is a part time job with low qualifying requirements. Just to receive your own pocket money. When teenagers go on to study at the university, some of them can roll a dice and try to get a workplace, connected with their future career. With a bit of a luck you can get a work placement and it will help you greatly as you get a working experience before you are graduated. In Russia young adults with any working experience have a bigger chance to get a permanent, well-paid job.

I guess it depends on a person. On average I think people start working at 20)) I think it's great to have a work placement before permanent job. On my opinion work placement gives a person a chance to decide which area of professional growth to choose and also of course what is the most important it gives a practical knowledge

I believe nowadays people in my country normally start working at their teens. But the exact teen age they do depends on a wide variety of factors: kind of background they come from, supportiveness of their families and their possibilities to provide financial security for their teen children, their innate abilities, some personal qualities like determanation, self-confidence, ability to take risks. Though jobs options for teenagers are quite limited (some even fall into a category of child labour), still starting work at one's teens teaches them to manage their time and money, can help them share a burden of their expenses, develops their sense of responsibility and communication skills/

Having a work placement in my opinion is vital as it gives you a chance to gain valuable experience, to develop confidence and individual style, professional skills, communication skills at dealing with a wide variety of people from all walks of life, ability to take on a heavy workload, meet tight deadlines, to acquire contacts in the profession. It can also be a kind of taster session for your chosen career where you can weigh up the pros and cons and consider what your main priorities about your job are and whether it is for you

As for me, I think it's nigh on impossible for teenager in Russia to get a good job, really! I tried to find one while studying at school and I failed. I was offered jobs at such strange places like clothes factory or something. And I think it's even prohibited in our country to hire teenagers to a full time job to protect them from heavy workload. So I started working when I was 18.

In reality young people in Russia start working after finishing college or university. Nowadays the situation with getting a good job is becoming worse and worse. Some companies avoid hiring inexperienced people, because they're perceived as being "too risky". As for work placements, they give students the chance to gain hands-on experience of the workplace before they start their career. It is useful to be given a wide variety of experience, without working long hours and being part of a team.
