The authors main purpose that I can interpret from this quote is to show that being curious and learning to question the world along with trying to understand it is important for everyone to do. going back into the article from yesterday this quote similarly is going over how curiosity is eventually suppressed and this restricts people from taking risks or trying something new that they don't understand yet.

The authors purpose of this quote is to pose the thought of how human existence essentially roots from the 3 step process of surprise, questioning and risk. The author is trying to show the reader that without that process no change will be made, which will make the human mind at its core useless and purposeless. Trying to show readers that without critical thinking, us as humans are just empty drones, with no end goal in life.

Its stating that humans are born curious, and so they should be free to embrace the curiosity for what it is. This connects to critical thinking because it encourages the reader/listener to question things as its a natural human response and the root of all existence, enforcing the idea that to grow as a person you should challenge preexisting thoughts with questions.

Paolo Freire portrays critical thinking as the main concept to being human. Allowing ourselves to think invites a reality of endless possibilities which impacts daily choices, risks, and changes. The author uses this human trait to emphasize the importance of its existence because it helps expand our viewpoint of the world. Critical thinking positively impacts our creativity side of our brain as it goes through a process, but you can't experience it unless your brain wakes up to your senses, surroundings, or questions.
