With my English learner students that struggle with reading I have used the RIDER strategy from Klinger, 2007. Its an acronym for Read a sentence, Image (mental picture), Describe how new information differs from previous, Evaluate image to ensure it is comprehensive and Repeat process with subsequent sentences. Its a visualization strategy that works best with small groups which aligns with tier 2 of the MTSS framework.
