         <description><![CDATA[<div>Many absolutist rulers of European countries ruled to some extent according to the ideas of Enlightenment thinkers.  Three of these enlightened absolutists were Frederick the Great of Prussia, Catherine the Great of Russia, and Joseph II of Austria.  These three rulers had a similar approach to reform, but Joseph differed from the others in his treatment of nobles and lack of territorial expansion. </div>]]></description>
