https://padlet.com/katlynskaza93/ksw8oqa4o46p en-us 2019-12-04 18:17:26 UTC 2024-03-27 20:56:48 UTC hello@padlet.com katlynskaza93 https://padlet.com/katlynskaza93/ksw8oqa4o46p/wish/1114732005 2021-01-22 16:21:46 UTC https://padlet.com/katlynskaza93/ksw8oqa4o46p/wish/1114732005 katlynskaza93 https://padlet.com/katlynskaza93/ksw8oqa4o46p/wish/1114752595 Switching to online learning has been difficult for everyone, but having a class that relies on tactile learning, like foods and nutrition and construction classes would seem to be hit thr hardest.  But Michael McGreal says it was an easier trnasition than anyone thought it would be.  McGreal says recording himself cooking or carving ice sculptures will be useful in the future, he plans on showing the videos to his students so they can watch the videos ahead of time and be more prepared for class.  He says it also brings students into their teachers real world outside of the classroom.  The fine arts have also been extremely affected.  Chior and art classes over zoom can seem very daunting, but teahcers like Douglas Russell have found ways to make it work, like recording and livestreaming himself painting and teaching his art lessons. 

This year I am not taking any art classes, but I am taking multiple CTE classes and I have felt the difficulty behind learning hands on topics behind a screen, but teachers have made it work and for all of what they have had to figure out themselves this year they deserve th highest of raises.

Every day I would come into the classroom and look for him just so I could see his face light up when he saw me. I tried to make this very mundain task fun for him by using play-dough, white boards, and tablets. We practiced writing it in all capial letters, all lower case letters, but he just wasn't getting it. I could tell that even though he was excited to see me every day he was getting discouraged. But one day I came into the classroom and he shot up out of his seat and said "Ms.Kat, I can do it now,I can write my name". I almost cried.
