Bathymetry and leatherback sea turtles. This animal went from deep to shallow and back to deep again. Whether it was to breed or feed. The depths changed multiple times throughout tracking this animal. The ocean floors deeps can vary from thousands of feet to only hundreds. This effects the animals movement because they have to find a route to get to the beaches they were born to lay their own eggs.

1. A bathymetry map is lines connecting points of similar depths. Shade maps according to depths to visualize the contours of the ocean floor. Similar to topographic map on land.

2. Bathymetry maps are used for navigation, ocean exploration, submarines, and numerous other reasons.

3. On this bathymetry map there are many ocean features: Mid ocean ridge, continental shelf, islands, shorelines, continental slope, and sea mounts.

4. The mid ocean ridge is formed by new magma coming up from under the ocean and forming new land.

5. The animal I had went from deep sea all the way to around the mid ocean ridge around shallow water.

6. Towards the beginning she mostly stayed in deeper waters, towards the end she hung around the mid ocean ridge in shallow waters.

7. There was not one certain depth my animal was at. It really varied because she moved around so much.
