The Netherlands had just invented an instrument that could allow you to see things far away, as if they were close to you, (the telescope). Galileo tried and tried again, until finally he learned how the instrument worked. He made his own and started to improve it, little by little. In August he presented his new and improved version of the telescope, and was rewarded with DOUBLE his salary.
