Yes, the implied purpose of the photo conveys ideas that are important. The picture shows why it was hard for Elizabeth to attend the all-white high school and what Elizabeth was facing from students like Hazel. The photo also shows the strength of Elizabeth, and how she somehow managed to hold her head high even in the face of such hatred. I do not think the image is biased. The image may have shocked people (because of the anger being shown), but showing that reality could help influence change.

Yes the implied purpose of the photo conveys ideas that are important because it shows that change does not come easily and how it takes just one person to bring about change one step at a time.

I think this photo provides a very clear and accurate depictions of what was going on during desegregation. There were a number of people that were not pleased with this process which is very evident in this picture based on the expressions of the white girls to her side and back. I do not feel this photo is biased. While there were some white people that supported this movement, the situation depicted in this picture was much more prevalent for black people trying to push forward and make a change for the better. Unfortunately black people were met with a great deal of resistance and hate everywhere they went which is very strongly presented in this photo.

The implied purpose of the photo conveys important ideas. The photo centrals how Hazel and her surrounding peers felt about her and how is what was hard for Elizabeth in those times. This picture highlights the new racial tensions that were forming in the South. I do not think this image is biased. However, I do not know what was happening before or and after the photo was taken place. This photo showed what was happening to black people because of being a different color. As we see Hazel is yelling at her but Elizabeth is remained calm but worry and sadness can be seen through her eyes. We can also see one person behind Hazel smiling and others with harsh facial expressions.

Yes this photo conveys a lot of ideas and emotion all in one frame. It's showing a historical moment from different perspectives by capturing the people present and reactions to the same event. It's hard to say that it's biased if it's captured real time unfolding events and not a posed image. I believe the reporter took the frame as is without intervening, which makes it photojournalism. I think though that it points to the strong reaction one really only one person, Hazel Bryan, where many in the crowds could have felt the same or differently about the integration.

This photos purpose conveys a real piece of history that is emotional to look at. It is important because Elizabeth went to an all white school and this photo shows how angry her peers were that she was there. This was not so long ago that it was captured by camera. Elizabeth had to remain strong, almost stoic when the one lady behind her with mouth open feels like we can hear her scream. This does not seem like it is a photo with bias, more of a photographer doing their job and showing reality of our history.

I think that this image is the type of image that speaks for itself. The body language and facial expressions of everyone in the background communicates the extreme height of bigotry and hate that Eckford and so many others like her had to endure during desegregation. To me, this image clearly communicates that desegregation did not happen overnight and that the roots of racism are deep. These are just some of the ideas that I believe this image communicates. I do not think the image is bias because I think that the stark contrast between Eckford and the women behind her communicates exactly what occurred in that moment--judgement, hate, cruelty. This image does, however, create an opportunity for someone to misinterpret Eckford's feelings--it would be easy to miss the fear she must have inarguably been feeling, as she walks poised, shoulders down, chin up, staring straight ahead.

The implied purpose of this photo certainly conveys ideas that are important. Just take a look at the body language of all those around Elizabeth Eckford. Eckford is covering her emotions with her sunglasses and demeanor. The crowd around her are yelling, giving her a dirty look, staring at her and I can believe saying not very nice things. This photo can say more than a 1000 words. At the time, Eckford did not know the history she was making and how it has paved the way for the future to make this country better. This image is not biased, but showing the time period and what was taking place. It represents a racist time in our country, and how we need to be alert that we have made change to this point, but we need to continue to strive for greater and to eliminate racism as a whole that we need to all be given equal opportunity. This image does not represent America that we want and claim to be. Always remember.

This image also portrays, hate which was taught to the whites by their parents to keep racism going. In my opinion I do not feel as though this image is biased, however I do feel like the photographer wanted to capture the hatred and ignorance of their own race. It captures the dynamic of racism for many during that time period. There is a singular black girl amongst a mob of hateful whites. The Black girl , though alone, is not the spectacle. The mob is the spectacle. Often times we think of racism through a lens of black suffering when truly, the focus more times than not should be on the offenders. This picture deviates from the traditional way we think about these things. Im more interested with the mob and can focus my thoughts on where their minds were. I dont view it as biased at all. its a still shot of a moment, untampered and true.

This photos shows a black teenager walking to school while being harassed by white people. It gives an incredible visual representation of that time and what it was like. Yes, this information can be described via a text, but a picture speaks a thousands words. It's similar to when pictures were taken during the Revolutionary War and truly showed the horrors of war. This image of desegregation is showing how scary this time was for Black people. No, I do not believe the picture is biased because the photographer is simply showing what is happening in the moment.

This photo definitely implies some important ideas. This is a historical moment captured in a photo image. I feel most people naturally first focus on all of the facial emotions of both Elizabeth and Hazel, as well as the other people walking around them. The contrast between Elizabeth's calm and seemingly unbothered appearance on the surface, compared to Elizabeth's rage and loss of control appearance is quite striking. Then just looking at the other surrounding people captured as they are moving, staring at Elizabeth with unsure looks on their faces. It is interesting to see the clothes on everyone, including the military police in the background. This photo really well captures this historical moment when racial and political tensions were high as brave people like Elizabeth took the first steps leading this country into desegregation.

Unfortunately this photo embodies a lot of hard historical truths of our country. It shows one young girl walking to school and being surrounded by people that are not supporting her goal of going to school. All while highlighting the anger of one of her peers in the background. I do not feel the photo is biased because facts prove that this was the temperature and feelings of many during this time and that era. However, the photographer could have caught this picture at the worst moment to depict Hazel, which although I disagree with her signs of hatred, I recognize that she was also a young child at the time and should have been protected from the public shaming she received because of this picture. The picture also does not capture Elizabeth's true feelings at that moment.

The contrast between Elizabeth's calm dignity with Hazel's blatant outrage, amongst a sea of white faces, who appear to be onlookers rather than supporters demonstrates the struggle for Black people to simply exist unharmed in a space where they are unwanted but provides opportunities, that could allow them to improve their future. I do not see this photo as bias either for or against anything. It provides a literal snapshot of history, during a time when state-sanctioned racial equality was enforced through the desegregation of American education.
