         <title>Roe vs Wade (1973) </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In this court case, the Supreme Court held that women have a constitutional right to terminate their pregnancies up to 12 weeks through abortion. This case came to be when Norma McCorvey (a.k.a Jane Roe) tried to remove an unwanted pregnancy in 1969. At this time, abortion was legal in Texas but only for the purpose of saving a woman's life. On January 22nd 1973, the Supreme Court struck down the Texas law that banned abortion, causing abortion to be legal nationwide. The decision of the court was 7 - 2. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Planned Parenthood vs Danforth (1976)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This case came after Planned Parenthood sued to prevent enforcement of certain parts of the law. One of the laws was to require parental consent if the woman is younger than 18. The Supreme Court issued that this was unconstitutional because the state cannot delegate the authority to prevent an abortion to anyone but the physician and the woman during the first trimester of pregnancy. The final decision of this court case was 6 - 3.  </div>]]></description>

         <title>The Abortion Pill</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This pill works up to 10 weeks of pregnancy. The process of this pill starts with taking a pill called mifepristone. Mifepristone blocks your body's progesterone, stopping the pregnancy from growing. After this, you take the second medicine, misoprostol, either right away or 48 hours later. This process is very similar to a miscarriage. </div>]]></description>

         <title>How do some religions define life?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div> In history, the Catholic religion’s view on abortion has leaned more on pro life rather than pro choice. Like every religion, Catholics have strong values that they believe strongly in. Although a lot of characteristics with values are similar with this religion compared to others, something that is different within them all is that Catholics strongly believe that each life has value. This is seen in the Bible verse, <em>Jeremiah 1:5, </em>which says “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart”. Throughout the bible, there are similar verses like this. While observing more into Judaism, I found from <em>MyJewishLearning.com, </em>that a section from the Talmud explains that a fetus does not attain the status of a person until birth. Unlike the Catholic religion, Catholicism believes that even as a fetus in the mother’s womb, they were already considered a child of God that was “fearfully and wonderfully made” by him. Although Jewish accept abortion, in some cases it is prohibited. For example, although not strongly enforced, feticide is against the Jewish law. By definition, feticide is the destruction of a fetus after birth. In the Muslim religion, there are several verses in the Qur'an that state that sex in marriage is intended to foster emotional intimacy rather than to be just a means of procreation. The Qur'an also strongly and repeatedly condemn the killing of children in any sense. This means that abortion is not accepted/looked down upon in the Muslim religion. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>On May 14th 2019, Alabama state legislature passed a measure that would ban abortion except for when the mother's life is in jeopardy. On May 7th 2019, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp signed into law a "heartbeat bill". The heartbeat bill bans abortion as early as six weeks. Another bill that was brought to Court was in Texas which allows a woman who has had an abortion to be either sentenced to life in prison or to be put on the death penalty. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The 9th Amendment states that the enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people. The 9th Amendment came to the Supreme Court after the  1965 court case, Griswold vs State of Connecticut. This case held that married  couples had the right to use birth control. This case has to do with the 9th Amendment because it protects those on rights and does not violate them. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>To start with, some believe abortion is murder. The federal <em>Unborn Victims of Violence Act</em>, which was enacted "to protect unborn children from assault and murder," states that under federal law, anybody intentionally killing or attempting to kill an unborn child should "be punished... for intentionally killing or attempting to kill a human being". Another belief is that life begins at conception, so unborn babies are human beings with a right to life. Another is that abortions cause psychological damage. Women should not use abortion as a form of contraception. Finally, women should accept the responsibility that comes with producing a child. </div>]]></description>

In the Roe vs Wade debate, the United States Supreme Court declared abortion to be a "fundamental right" guaranteed by the United States Constitution. Abortion also controls population. It allows women to have a right of their own body. And a woman should not have a baby if she feels she is not ready to. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A 2018 statistic from <em>News.Gallup.com</em> states that 56% of citizens in United States aged 18 - 29 are Pro-Choice. Compared to ages 65+ this is only 44%. The reason why we are going back in time is because the older generation is the one who makes the laws and enforces them. With less older people in support of abortion, this means that more of this older generation will try to do things to remove it.</div>]]></description>
