The building later gained its current name after the Second World War after it housed displaced families at the time. In the 1970s, the surrounding area underwent a major change but the building was kept the same due to its historical significance. It started as a “simple” 9 storey shopping mall but then a large number of more international shops and restaurants started to pop up. Situated between Sha Tin Station and Citylink Plaza, a pick up/drop off zone for taxis, a multi-floor underground parking lot and bus stations up and down the street and even its own MTR exit, it is easily reachable.
