I have my bachelors in History from the University

of New Mexico, and have started my certification

program to achieve one of my goals of becoming

a teacher. I moved down here from Washington

last year to pursue this specific goal and it has taken

some time to get used to this sunny hot weather.

As things is life go, I found out I was going to have a

new addition to my family that is due September 27th,

so along with a new career I will be a new mom as well.

I am very excited to have started my new assignment

at Heatherbrae Elementary School, and am now

teaching 1st grade with a dynamic team of teachers. My

hope for this year is that my students learn and grow as

much as I do if not more over this school year.

Homework and Fluency

Your student will receive a homework packet each Monday. They are expected to do this packet throughout the week. Each page is labeled with the day of the week it should be done. Also each week your child will be given a fluency page. This will be in the front of their blue folder. They are to read this to a parent each night 3 times. The third time they read it you should record the number of words they read and it should be timed ( 1 minute). Your student will write about what they should have for homework each day in their agenda. Please make sure to sign their agenda each night they take it home. This will help prepare them for their future grade levels and give them a sense of responsibility.
