         <title>Active (Manipulative/Observant)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. One way that active teaching was done well this week was when my friend was teaching about playing his favorite video game. He explained to me how to play and let me observe him doing it, but then he allowed me to play it myself and learn from my mistakes to get better at the game. By the end of the time spent playing, I had a better understanding of how the game works rather than just when someone talks about the game to me. <br>2. An example of someone implementing active teaching in a poor manner this week would have to be in one of my classes when the instructor expected us to research an answer questions about a topic, but they did not give us adequate time or explain the task well enough in advance. This resulted in a lot of confusion and an overall sense that we did not understand the material we were trying to learn. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Constructive (Articulative/Reflective)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. In the past, one of the ways that this topic has been conveyed poorly in a class setting has been when a teacher would assign a reflective paper or activity, but they would not take the time to ensure that the things we took away from the activities were what was necessary to the topic we were learning. For example, if we had a reflective paper due in the middle of the semester, and a test later about a similar topic, the teacher would make sure the paper was the proper length, but the content itself was not always critiqued so harshly. This usually resulted in a poor grade on the test. <br>2. One way this topic was done well was last semester in one of my classes when I needed to take everything I had learned in the course and put it together in a presentation that showcased what I believed to be the most important information taught. This allowed me to go back through everything and decide what was the most applicable and transferable topics of the semester. It was personal and I was able to learn and present the information in a way that makes sense to me.  </div>]]></description>

         <title>Cooperative (Collaborative/Conversational) </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. One of the ways that this was done well this week in my classes was when my teacher had up break off and discuss various topics. We then came back together and were able to discuss those topic in a way that allowed everyone's opinion to be heard even if some people disagreed. This professor made it clear that the opinions shared in the class needed to be respected because the topic was a polarizing one and everybody grew up differently. This allowed everyone to feel comfortable in a usually uncomfortable situation. <br>2. In high school, most teachers would assign group or collaborative projects in classes. These were not necessarily a bad thing, but more often than not this would result in one or two people doing the majority of the work on a project. This in general makes most students dislike group projects, and this can be detrimental later in life when you have to work on projects as a group in college or later in your field of choice. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Authentic (Complex/Contextual)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. My best example for this topic being used poorly in a classroom would be during my senior year math class in high school. When the teacher explained the concepts we were learning, he didn't put them in perspective, so when we did regular problems I did just fine, but word problem, or real-world problems would confuse me because we were not taught how to apply what we had learned to real world scenarios. This lack of a full explanation made my math classes very difficult and I always scored lower than I could have given the topic had be better taught. <br>2. One way in which this topic was done well was when my Government teacher applied a lot of what we were learning to policies and rules we saw in the news. This made a difficult topic easier to comprehend, especially for someone like me who found things like history and government confusing and twisted. Having a teacher break it down and apply it to a real-world scenario, outside of the classroom made it easier to focus and learn what I needed to. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Intentional (Goal-Directed/Regulatory)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. One way in which intentional, goal-directed learning was taught to me that was beneficial was when my boss at work showed me different ways to stay organized and plan out what I needed to do. Between work and online school, I was having trouble keeping track of everything I needed to do, but my boss showed me how she keeps herself organized and showed how I could do the same in a way that would keep me from being overwhelmed. This technique worked well because I needed the structure and it is something that has been transferable into other areas of my life. <br>2. One way in which this has not been beneficial was when my professors would set the class at your personal pace. This, in theory, is a good way to make someone goal-directed, but without direction, a lot of things slide and can end up being more stressful than they need to be. For me, this method of teaching is not beneficial, but anxiety inducing and stressful. </div>]]></description>
