Flat Lorax here is posing in front of some construction. But, it's not just ANY construction. Here we see a machine that is being used (as you can see, not at that exact moment) to dig canals for a new development in Parkland, FL. These canals will be used to control water flow from the Everglades and allow for an easier manufacturing of a neighborhood. This relates to APES because the construction crew is tampering with the water flow from the environment to benefit their development on top of it.

Flat Lorax, you're lookin' good! In this steamy photo of Flat, we can see piles of mulch in the background. This is because the organization FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) is taking debris from the recent Hurricane Irma, which, while slid along the West Coast of South Florida, still heavily affected parts of the East, and converting it into mulch. The mulch in turn will be used for various environmental uses, including the retaining of soil moisture and temperature and making agricultural lands look aesthetic. This relates to APES because the mulch is made from the detritus of a damaged environment, and will be used to mend the run-down parts of town (Parkland, FL) and improve on it further.

YOWZA! Flat, have you gained weight? No, but in regards to population, Parkland sure has. Here we can see Flat posing in front of the construction of a new house in an up and coming neighborhood in Parkland, FL. This is because there has been a significant upsurge in population here in the past couple of years. Hundreds of homes have been built from the ground up to satisfy the incoming populace. This relates to APES because this is a case of overpopulation. The swell of people coming into our town may be too much for our local construction crew and the rest of the Everglades to handle.

Pee-ew, who passed gas? If it wasn't Flat Lorax here, then it was this natural gas regulator. In Parkland, FL, the neighborhood of MiraLago provides natural gas to its residents. Gas is a nonrenewable resource, meaning it is a resource of economic value that cannot be readily replaced by natural means on a level equal to its consumption. Basically, we can't refill our amount of gas faster than the rate we use it. This relates to APES because natural gas is not only just one of the many energy sources used from our environment, including solar, electric, coal, water, steam, etc., but is the cleanest and purest fossil fuel available today due to its remarkably low emissions as compared to others (coal or oil).
