Beginning

The French society is split up into 3 distinct classes. The First Estate, the Second Estate, and the Third Estate. The First Estate has the most power within French Society, and the Third Estate has the least power. The Third Estate faced suppression from the French government as well as neglect. The French Government levied unfair tax laws against the Third Estate while also disregarding the famine that they experienced. This is because the Third Estate is always outvoted two to one. After all, each estate gets one vote during decisions within the Government. Louis XVI tries to mend the divide between the Estates and each estate brings a notebook full of their problems to him. The Third Estate had the largest and fullest notebook, while the other two Estates had little to no problems. Nothing happened with this notebook event because the Third Estate was once again outvoted three to one.

The Third Estate feels extreme displeasure with the French Government because of how they are treated within French Society. They hate how the rich don't pay any tax and how they make meager wages and own nearly none of the land. The Third Estate breaks out into protests across France and expresses how much they feel oppressed. They attempted to put in place a government called the National Assembly, where the Estates had representation based on population. During the first meeting of the National Assembly, the Third Estate representatives are locked out of the meeting by the Second and First. The representatives find their way in through one of Louis' Tennis courts and take an oath to not give up until a constitution is put in place for the free people of France. The people start to feel even more hatred for the French Monarchy and Robespierre leads a riot at the Bastille. The rioters at the Bastille assembled because they felt fear of the National Assembly being disassembled, feared their rights being violated, and that they feel like they needed weapons to defend themselves from the government. Commoners end up raiding and storming the Bastille freeing the political prisoners the French government has collected and stealing weapons from the Bastille. More commoners marched on Versailles because a rumor had spread among the people that Louis and Marie were hoarding all of the flour and bread. The people attempted another failed form of government where the people and the Monarch would work together to make laws called the Legislative, but this failed as well because the Monarchy was overthrown and there were extreme hostilities between the monarchy and the people. Eventually, Robespierre installed a new form of government called the First Republic. In this government, he ends up being corrupted by all the power he's acquired and starts beheading people via guillotine. During this government, also called the Reign of Terror, Robespierre beheads King Louis XVI and Marie for alleged treason and for attempting to start a counter-revolution against the First Republic.

Again, the First Republic is torn down by the people and Robespierre is executed for his tyrannical acts. Instead, they used a new form of government called the Directory. In this form of government, there is an Upper House and a Lower House. The Lower House proposed laws to the Upper House, and they could either veto or pass the law proposed. The Directory struggled because the Upper House just vetoed any bill that opposed them and could pick and choose what bills get passed with no repercussions. A prominent Military General disliked this form of government and started plotting against it. This general was named Napoleon. Napoleon staged a successful coup d' état against the Directory and crowned himself as Emperor of France. He starts a series of military conquests and conquers most of Europe. He invades and colonizes Europe, discovering the Rosetta Stone. He invades nations and installs puppet governments within, effectively annexing them. He enacts the Napoleonic codes, demolishes the Estate system, allows freedom of religion, and restores a central government to France. He does the Louisiana Purchase with the U.S. as well. Napoleon decides that he doesn't have enough land for France, and invades Russia. His invasion of 1812 went horribly, King Alexander I had a scorched earth policy, leaving Napoleon's men to starve after invading Russia. Napoleon retreats from Russia but is exiled from France after his failure. Napoleon escapes his exile and attempts to make a return to power but is exiled once more and doesn't attempt again.
