Character developpment: At the begining he hated the idea of bei8ng a Scythe and gleaning people. But as the time past he actually started to enjoy it wich scared him. While it scared him he used it to his advantage while killing Goddard and his mates. This turned him into a killing weapon and a skilled fighter which really helped him to run away from all the scythes at the Winter Conclave.

Character development: At the begginning of the book he seemed much colder than he actually is. But at the end of the book we understand that he coudn't forgive himself for putting Rowan through every thing he went through. His fabricated death caused trouble to both of his apprentices. For Citra she was convicted of murdering a scythe and for Rowan for becoming Goddards apprentice.

Even though he is an associate of Goddard he still hates himself every time he's tasked to glean somebody. At the end of the book he even gleaned himself because of his guilt of gleaning a whole class full of children.
