"opportunities for growth can carry risk of unhealthy choices; many teens end up struggling with obesity or eating disorders, substance use, unsafe sexual activity, poor nutrition, lack of exercise, sleep deprivation, school problems and low mood." Your behavior not only affects you, but also people who are around you. That means your unhealthy behavior will just keep spreading like wildfire.

"Make nutrition a priority. Many teens rely on vending machine snacks, fast food and on-the-go sugary sports drinks or sodas for fuel during the day." The longer your screen time is, the lesser you eat food. Sure, you could eat chocolate, pie, etc. while in bed, but those are unhealthy food that could easily make your body function incorrectly.

I think we all just need to spread the greater things in life. That sounds cheesy, but I think there's not really much we could do about people with unhealthy behaviors.

I once had to deal with a 6th grader who was just all over her phone. She never listened; she was rude (a brat). I asked politely to turn off her phone and hand it in. She did, but that's what I thought. She handed it in slowly, and quickly pulled it back right before I could grab it. She laughed and ran upstairs to lock herself in her room. At that point, I was annoyed (like.. I actually wanted to go home and not waste my time babysitting a disrespectful kid). I sighed and walked up to her room and knocked a couple times. I was sure she heard the tone of my voice. She sat at the opposite side of the door, and I learned that her parents never really gave her the time she wanted. None of them took the day off to spend at least a couple of minutes to ask how she was doing. She got so used to it, her behavior gradually changed and she didn't care about anyone anymore. I said, "Instead of pushing people away, wouldn't you want to experience happiness? The feeling of excitement?" That made her leap out ofw her room. For the first time, I saw her genuine smile. The next time I babysat, I honestly thought she threw away her phone. Words can really impact others. We need to use them for good, not bad.
