He also probably told it to show that something unbelievable and sounded like a fairy tale are things that are really real. I think that Conor's nightmare/story is about his mom dying. His mom is really sick and it is at the same time that Conor has to tell his story. Everyone doesn't need to die for one bad deed. He teaches Conor that everyone is in between good an bad. This shows Conor that he shouldn't never forgive Lily for the one thing she did. It wasn't even the biggest deal.

The second tale shows that you should trust people because they might help you later or there will be consequences. In the tale a parsonage that owns a yew tree is asked by an apothecary for the yew tree. The parsonage refuses and drives business away from the apothecary's shop.One day the parsonages daughters become sick. He goes to the apothecary for help and is given none. His daughters die and the monster comes walking and destroys the parsonages house because he refused to help others and trust him. This relates to Conor because he is so mad that he breaks his Grandmothers clock and the monster wants to show him real destruction.

The third tale talks about an invisible man, not invisible physically but no one saw him because he did nothing. This relates to Conor because Harry no longer sees him because he doesn't care. Conor still wants to be seen and the monster helps him like he does with the man in the story. Conor gets so mad and with the power of the monster puts Harry in the hospital making him seen again.
