Debt to income ratio is the amount of debt you have compared to your income (page 12). It measures that is commonly used to determine if a household qualifies for a loan or mortgage (page 11). Lenders use the ratio to see if someone is eligible for a loan. They also determine the risk for repayment. People with high DTI have less of a chance of getting a loan because they have a lot of debt.

Since I do not know how much debt I will be in, I cannot say specifically what my debt to income ratio will be. However, since the salary is relatively high, this is help keep my ratio low.

What can I do now and in the future to keep a high credit score? To keep a high credit score, there are a couple of things that one can do. One is to pay your bills on time (page 13). If you miss payments. that is one way that your credit score decreases (page 13). Another is to not get too close to your credit limit. I can set a budget so that this does not happen. Another is to have a long credit history (page 13). The more experience, the better. Lastly, I should only apply for the credit that I need. (page 13).
