During English classes, eighth and tenth grade students have been reading and talking about different environmental issues. They have been in the process of learning new vocabulary and starting to use it. In this process, they selected one of the problems addressed and made an oral presentation, which, although with several things to correct, shows the commitment of the students to learn and start using English as a foreign language. En el taller de los grados sexto y séptimo, se leyeron los fragmentos “El fantasma”, “La Trunchbull” y “Aritmética” del libro “Matilda” escrito por Roald Dahl y que a propósito, lo encuentran en nuestra biblioteca, con la dinámica de representar con plastilina la emoción causada por la lectura.

From the library social service, we want to share with you one of our purposes: to bring students closer to reading for pleasure and conviction. In this sense, we have been carrying out a series of workshops, with the aim of motivating students to learn about the "Libro Libre" library, our reading and book lending system, in order to improve the different skills of students through the reading.

In the sixth and seventh grade workshop, the fragments "The Ghost", "The Trunchbull" and "Arithmetic" from the book "Matilda" written by Roald Dahl were read and, by the way, you can find it in our library, with the dynamic of representing with plasticine the emotion caused by reading.

These are some of the moments in the 6th and 7th grade workshops and the productions made by the students.

Los estudiantes ganadores por categorías fueron:

Early Birds: Danna Arias, estudiante de grado quinto. 

Juniors:  Sebastián Patarroyo, estudiante de grado sexto. 

Seniors: Evan Igua, estudiante de grado undécimo.  

Los estudiantes representarán al Colegio en el concurso local, el cual será llevado a cabo en agosto. Esperamos que esta clase de actividades sigan brindando a nuestros estudiantes la oportunidad de fortalecer sus competencias en el idioma inglés y mejorar sus habilidades orales y escritas. ¡Felicitaciones a cada uno de ellos por su esfuerzo y perseverancia! 

The last June 9th it was carried out the Institutional Spelling Bee Contest, for that reason the students were practicing the spelling of words, movies and entertainment expressions, during the English classes. The contest was divided into three cathegories, in which we found:
Early Birds (third fourth and fifth grades),
Juniors (sixth, seventh and eighth grades) y Seniors (ninth, tenth and eleventh grades). The participants showed their ability throught the spelling of words in English, which indicates that they have the appropiate vocabulary, so they can spell and pronounce words correctly.  

The winning students by cathegories were:

Early Birds: Danna Arias, fifth grader.

Juniors:  Sebastian Patarroyo, sixth grader. 

Seniors: Evan Igua, eleventh grader. 

The students will represent the school in the local contest, which will be held in August. We hope that this kind of activities give our students the opportunity to strengthen their English language   competences and improve their oral and written skills.
