•I found the career readiness activities to be both helpful and stimulating in aiding my future and current career developments. Not only has this helped me in a practical sense (in terms of applying for relevant positions), but its also allowed me to consider the many options and avenues of both professional and personal advancement. Joining the Rowdy Network, my first activity, aided me in putting myself out there to my fellow peers, and will allow me to discover and connect with other individuals in my field. My second activity, which was joining the UTSA club known as “Accounting Professionals of Tomorrow”, via Rowdy Link, connects me with other accounting majors here in San Antonio, which is exciting, as it may not only aid my own future career, but also allows me to develop and foster professional relationships with other like minded people. My third activity, which was applying for an internship at PetCo, will give me relevant business experience, and by pursuing this internship for this assignment, its inspired me to also apply for other internships in San Antonio as well! My fourth activity was joining the San Antonio Chapter of CPAs as a student member, which will not only help me network with other people in my field, but they also offer many services such as workshops, community events, and scholarships.

International Accounting Standards and Accounting Quality

•This article’s main thesis is whether or not the International Accounting Standard (abbreviated as IAS) is more effective than non US accounting systems. To be specific, the measures explored in this article are the effectiveness of earning management, appropriate loss recognition, and greater value recognition. The reason for exploring such a thesis is because the purpose of the International Accounting Standard is to be an adequate system in which multiple countries can use compatible accounting structures, and thus lead to more effective communications and business. What the article found was that the IAS is in fact, generally more effective than most other accounting systems, though some non US accounting structures were only marginally worse, and, sometimes, better than the IAS, specifically in terms of loss recognition.

•This article is about the use and surge in communication technology in the field of accounting, particularly following the COVID 19 pandemic. While the use of Zoom and other avenues of communication were used before the pandemic, it was during and afterwards that saw their greatest use, as well as an overwhelming increase in hybrid and remote positions in accounting, as well as in the business world in general. Though the disruption of the pandemic was massive for everyone, it was found that many businesses and fields were able to survive and thrive in the aftermath; many businesses now follow a more hybrid set up than before, while still remaining just as, and if not, more than often, effective.
