Red Flag #1: Proof by Verbosity

Definition:
Proof by verbosity is providing a large quantity of evidence and support about a claim that it gives the illusion that the claim must be true.

Connection:
This connects to Mackenzie Poltergeist in Greyfriars because there has been so many reports of people being attacked and harmed when entering the Greyfriars Kirkyard. It's said there has been over 500 ghostly attacks since 1999. There's even pictures to document the injuries after entering the tomb. Since there has been an abundance of reported attacks it alludes that Greyfriars kirkyard is without a doubt haunted. This connects to the red flag proof of verbosity because of all the reported attacks, it gives the idea that Greyfriars kirkyard is nothing but haunted and dangeous. The picture provided below is some of the reported injuries caused after entering the Black Mausoleum.

https://mysteriousfacts.com/mackenzie-poltergeist-haunts-greyfriars-kirkyard/

Red Flag #2: Mystical Energy

Definition:
Mystical energy is trying to use the word "energy" to explain a claim that has no correlation. The word energy is a scientific term used to measure someone's ability to do something. Using it in a spiritual way to explain a claim doesn't make sense.

Connection:
In 2001 an exorcist by the name of Colin Grant went to Greyfriars Kirkyard accompanied by other ghost hunters. He attempted to before an exorcism in the kirkyard but had to stop and immediately left the graveyard in fear. He claimed he felt hundred's of spirits and tormented soul's it was too powerful for him to overcome. This connects to the red flag mystical energy because Colin Grant claiming to be an exorcist and "feel" the evil spirits around him doesn't scientifically explain anything. There was no physical evidence shown for him to feel any emotion of fear. However I do need to note that after Colin Grant left the graveyard he suddenly died a month later from an unexpected heart attack. Down below is a picture of what I think is Colin Grant at the Greyfriars Kirkyard. (This was the only reoccurring image I could find of him on google).

https://www.pinterest.ca/pin/438678819925380714/

Red Flag #3: Confusion or Correlation with causation

Definition:
Confusion or correlation with causation means that one thing doesn't cause the other. Causation means it's the reason it happened and then confusion or correlation means it coincides but isn't the determining reason for the cause.

Connection:
In 1998, a homeless man for reasons presumed that he wanted shelter or looking for valuable's to steal, broke into the "Black Mausoleum" which is the final resting place for Lord Advocate Sir George Mackenzie also know as “Bluidy MacKenzie.” When the homless man tried prying open the casket, a large hole opened up beneath his feet and he dropped below into a chamber, which held additional bodies dumped there due to the plague as it was a quick way to dispose of bodies. The homeless man hysterically ran and was never heard from again. But they say that ever since the burial ground of Bluidy Mackenzie was opened, his spirit has been unleashed and haunting the grounds ever since.
This connects to confusion or correlation with causation because there could have been undocumented attacks before the homeless man ransacked the graveyard. Just because he opened the tomb doesn't necessarily mean the grounds weren't always haunted. Below is a picture of George Mackenzie.

https://www.historicmysteries.com/mackenzie-poltergeist-greyfriars/

Red Flag #4: Suppression by Authorities

Definition:
Suppression by authorities means that an authoritative influence or figure (such as a scientist or the government) gives a frail excuse to claims made and don't take them seriously or address them properly.

Connection:
There has been countless reported injuries from the public stating that they were harmed and attacked when visiting Greyfriars Kirkyard. Injuries such as ghost burns, bruises, broken fingers, auditory hallucinations such as wall and floor knocks and many other things. The connection with Suppression to authorities is that if this place is so harmful for those who enter, why doesn't the government prohibit the public from entering it? This questions the authenticity of the claims, because if they were as severe as reported, wouldn't the government step in?

Red Flag #5: Appeal to Authority

Definition:
Appeal to authority is when you use imagery that makes the claim look credible under the influence of some sort of authority or legitimacy.

Connection:
Appeal to authority connects to the mystery of Mackenzie Poltergeist in Greyfriars based off of a blog post I read where the writer himself actually lived inside the graveyard across from the Covenanter’s Prison. He got approval from the city council of Edinburgh to run a tour that would unlock the entire site. He ran the tour to obviously make a profit and witness any paranormal phenomena. Appeal to authority connects to this because running tours named "City of the Dead" obviously influences tourists and the general public to believe in all the haunted reports. Below is a link to one of the tour's on his website.

Definition:
The way we view and perceive things affects our ability to build memories.

Connection:
Since there has been so many reported attacks and eye witness's it's hard to argue that over 500 people just aren't observing things properly and potential exaggerating. The reason for the belief is literally due to the mass amounts of observation that have been held in Greyfriars Kirkyard.

Picture below is the grounds of Greyfriars Kirkyard
https://www.istockphoto.com/ca/photos/greyfriars-kirkyard?sort=mostpopular&mediatype=photography&phrase=greyfriars%20kirkyard

When the public see's these tombstone's they automatically associate this with ghost's and evil spirit's. In fact, when you allow those agent's to connect you are inviting these spirit's and ghosts to you.

https://www.popsugar.com/smart-living/photo-gallery/43968288/image/43968382/Greyfriars-Kirkyard
