I like the pen pal idea for my ELL students. I would love to hear how you connected with other teachers to write pen pal letters.

I would also like to create a book for new families and students who move to Natick. Next year, we will have 15 5th grade ELL students so it would be nice to make a book for them. I love that idea and will be helpful to practice informational writing.

At our school, we are often looking for activities to fill our WIN block. A lot of these ideas would be great to add engagement and an authentic audience around the world. I also just went to a session on creating authentic audiences during PBL lessons, and a lot of these suggestions could be used to help create that authentic audience for project based learning.

I love your idea to encourage writing through indirect communication (using Barnes and Noble suggestions or writing to pen pals about their reading) This was really helpful!
