No doubt, old houses look great, but in them you will not find modern conveniences like new and safe electricity wiring or normal water supply. Also period houses don't have good insulation. Moreover if an old house is a very old you have repair smth all the time, because nothing is eternal. I don't think that modern houses lack charm and warmth. My preferences of being up-to-date whatever the context is spread on the type of house I'd prefer to live in as well. Many people are in love with period houses because they seem more cozy and comfortable for them, but there's no doubt such a thing would not work for me. I'm a geek and an estate combined in one body, so there's no way all the modern gadgets I wish I had in my haven would look harmoniously in a period hose. I know it all depends, of course, but I don't think that it'd be my cup of tea. Who knows, maybe one day I'll say to my family something like "Screw it, how can you stand all those overcomplicated useless things in a place you call "home"?!". But I really hope nothing like that will ever happen :D. But, actually, today there are old houses that are modernized under new. And if we talk about this type of house, of course, I prefer updated old houses with modern facilities. Old houses usually located closer to the center and various shops, shopping centers. Also in such houses is usually quiet and peaceful. In completely new homes are constantly being renovated, because of what it can be noisy and uncomfortable to live.
