You shared with me that you’re worried about XX’s watching a lot of TV, how do you think it has been affecting him?

At the same time, you recognised that watching TV has been affecting his sleep?

Even though you can turn off the TV, he will have tantrums, how does it look like?

Then how do you calm him down?

Some days you talk to him and calm him, but some days you really cannot, you give in.. is this an area that you’re very worried about? His tantrums after you try to turn off the TV, or do you think you’re still at a stage where you can manage?

I’m hearing that its quite frustrating also.

But you also stop yourself, what makes you stop yourself?

So you see him, you also feel very softhearted. But you also know that watching too much is not good, and you recognise it affects his sleep & tantrums

As we work together, there are many topics that we can work together. Im hearing from you that screen time may be something you may be interested, and also his tantrums & his sleep routines. Out of these, which you do you feel most interested for us to talk about next session?

Why did you pick tantrums?

So you want to start with tantrums first… i’m also hearing things you’ve already tried, instead of me just sharing strategies, next time i come, good for you to share with me what you’ve already tried

We have heard good suggestions from you about activities to do with the children, is there any other topics that related to transition to p1 that you are interested to explore?

Right now just to get a sense, has child ever shared any friend’s names? In school and at home, who does he play with?

I hear that Naufal is a good friend of his, any particular activity that he mentioned he played with Naufal?

Have you met Naufal?

You guys get to chat and talk about the children’s play time.

Have you ever seen his interaction with Naufal?

It is quite interesting that you chose the topic of meeting friends, just wanted to find out have you noticed that he has any difficulties making friends? Or conflicts and disagreements?

In terms of making friends, what do you think is a skill that child would need?

Even ask as adults, how do we make friends?

Taking initiative. How do we incorporate that? How do we help child practice taking initiative just at home?

It is pretty normal. Sometimes children need time to warm up. Like us, some days are better than others. I’m glad you started the practice of getting him to greet neighbours

How else do you think you can try to get him to speak up a bit more

Or other instances where after he try the activity he will feel very confident?

What are some areas of goals/ concerns you have for your child?

Do you remember the last session we did ASQ, let’s take a look?

Is that ( communication - grey zone) an area of concern?

How do you think lacking in English comprehension will affect them in school?

Do you see that will impact their ability to make friends?

In the future, there will be more need to use English language. Do you think it would be something you would like to work on with them?

I am hearing that you are unsure on how to support your children in using more English Language. How then using routines can we incorporate the use of english?
